How do I bid on this?

We have seen a tandem for DD & DH

It's a really good bike according to my brother - who is a bike engineer, but he is in Sweden so he hasn't seen it

So how do I bid?

It is apparently 'vintage' & could be worth a lot of money - with a fair bit of work

I defer to your brother's expertise, but check with him about the age of the frame, could it likely be in good nick and yet not weigh a tonne? It's not much fun cycling on a lead tank.

I wouldn't defer to him for anything - but then he is my kid brother

We probably won't get it & if we do DD will get her sight back & not need it

is this one better

It's prettier but I don't think DB would approve

this looks too small

& I used to have a bike this make here DB stole it off me refurbished it & made several hundred pounds

Ammaco (Pure Genius) is widely derided, I wouldn't risk it.

My tourer is an old MotoBecane frame too!

Ours is St. John St. Cycles own make (Thorn); basic but reasonable value for money, durable.

What about phoning the Aylsham Cycle Centre (01263-731731) and request their advice about tandems; say you saw an old Gitane and wondered if that sounded ok? Cheeky, but they will give you good advice on the hope you will take it to them to refurb.

One of those you linked to is collection only and they are notoriously difficult to transport!

KatyMac · 29/06/2010 21:56

I know; if we get one from 'away' it will be by train

I won!!!

You can't take them on the train!
I assume you mean your Dh will take train there and ride it back .
Happy cycling.

KatyMac · 30/06/2010 21:16

Why not? Wouldn't it go in the guards van?

If we can get it to the local tow he will ride it home - if we can't we will borrow a trailer

Guard's van? Don't ever have one on the Norwich to Yarmouth or Shermingham lines, I think (??). You are in Acle, right?

But glad you've got a trailer option. It's only about 10 or 15 miles from Hoveton to Acle, no? I think I'd just plan to cycle it.

KatyMac · 01/07/2010 20:58

Sorry train was for if we won one miles away & DH could cycle from Norwich

& the very nice man is delivering it

I will make Fudge or Cakes for him (& possibly a tenner?)
