Returning something to seller - what's the routine?

I received something yesterday that I wasn't happy with (it wasn't in the condition that it was described to be) and I contact the seller straight away. She was really nice and thanked me contacting her rather than going straight to a claim or whatever, and she asked what I would like to do?
Do I ask for a refund first (including costs of sending it back) and then send it? Or do I send it first?
Someone please advise me!

I issue a refund when the goods have arrived back. Just be sure to send them recorded so you are covered.

Thank you for replying. Do you add on the costs of sending it back too?

Yes I do. I think with the ebay feedback system sellers are really conscious of negative feedback so generally offer a no quibble refund rather than risk low feedback and star ratings. The higher your stars and feedback, the more discount you get.

Brilliant. Thank you for your advice. I shall let you know how it goes.

Some sellers will pay return postage, some won't. If the claim was through Ebay the buyer would have to cover the return postage.
