I posted it as soon as she paid, need to find the proof of posting (didn't send it recorded etc just got proof). I have just had an email almost 2 weeks later asking "when are you sending my item"..

What do I do..? How long do I leave it till its classed as lost etc.?

What was it was it a small or large item?

Was it through royal mail?

If you have the proof of postage send it on to the buyer and let them chase it if i were you, but in my experience having proof of postage is like having a piece of loo roll!!

Get buyer to check with postoffice/sorting office and neighbours. i scaned in the proof of postage and e-mailed it over to prove I had done it.

shhhh · 07/06/2010 09:53

thanks nicola, i know what you mean...I have checked to see what the procedure etc is and it does seem that its a nightmare process all for...stamps .

Its a large item, kids toy so isn't easy to hide iykiwm. BUT its value was around £30 although the buyer didn't may that. More like half that.

Bacon, thats a good idea...will see if dh can scan it for me.

That is irrelevant as you are still laible unfortunately. Always add 74p into the cost of your postage if it is under £41 for recorded delivery.

It is not up to the buyer to chase up the refund with RM it is up to the seller - as it was them that ourchased a service with RM. You will have to refund the buyer and then claim through RM. There is a way of claiming an ebay item lost through RM.

RunforFun · 09/06/2010 17:32

Always makes me a bit sceptical when they speak like that. Why cant they say ' Hi, I've not received the item yet, can you tell me if/when it was posted ? '

Maxy is right.

maxybrown · 09/06/2010 17:38

yes quite runforfun - know what you mean! It seems lots of people are incabable of basic politeness these days

Dumbledoresgirl · 09/06/2010 17:41

Get your buyer to check her sorting office. I recently did not receive a couple of items and was in the process of discussing this with the sellers when, out of desperation, I tried my local sorting office. Not only were my two parcels there, so was another one I was not expecting! Turned out the new postman wasn't doing his job properly. It is worth a try anyway.

That said, until I found the parcels, both my sellers were willing to refund me.

MrsFawlty · 09/06/2010 17:45

Sadly Maxy is right. I now only post recorded as the receipt isn't worth the paper. I need to claim some money back off royal mail but I haven't started it yet, ut's such a faff.

shhhh · 09/06/2010 19:13

thanks everyone.

well I emailed the buyer x2 on friday, one saying I would look into it and the 2nd asking if she could wait until RM classed it as lost to allow me to claim and I would issue a refund at the same time.

WELL....I only got an email from ebay saying the buyer had heard nothing from me and basically she had made a few unnecessary remarks.
I replied saying she must have email problems and forwarded the 2 emails. Today I get a reply apologising. Im going to leave it a few days longer as we have agreeded and then issue a refund from there. HOWEVER not looking forward to claiming from RM...not worth it I guess either.

I see I get "stamps" in return BUT how much..? value of item sold or value of posting the item or other amount..?

OP posts:
maxybrown · 09/06/2010 19:29

stamps in return? Is that correct?

maxybrown · 09/06/2010 19:31

No just checked, you can claim money. I had an item not arrive over christmas - I got a from from RM asking me to confirm all of the details as purchased on ebay.

Disenchanted3 · 09/06/2010 19:33

You have to add 74p recorded to protect yourself!

I don't post anything without it now as I think ebayers who recieve an item not signed just clam it as lost so they get a free item.

Sad but true! The amount of things that got 'lost' before i sent signed for was amazing, now that i send recorded i've had NOTHINg from ebay go misssing

shhhh · 09/06/2010 19:35

ah right so I get the money back then MB,..? Do I just send them proof of the auction.?

disenchanted, is it really just an uxtra 74p for recorded (is that 2nd class recorded..?) never really looked into it but thought it would be expensive..

OP posts:
Disenchanted3 · 09/06/2010 19:41

Yep,

i sent 2 items today 2nd class recorded and came to about £2.5 each including that.

Its reaqlly better fr u as they can't disute recieving it.

You can put on your listings too that your postage includes recorded delivery, might put off diodgy buyers.

shhhh · 09/06/2010 19:57

Thanks for the tip and advice. Will let you know how I get on x

OP posts:
maxybrown · 09/06/2010 20:00

I sometimes like to put sellers standard rate but send it recorded

I always send recorded too - yes 1st and 2nd class is 74p and that covers you up to £41 now. remember -you send it by a trackable insured method to protect YOU not the buyer.

If you are sell something that sells for more than £41 then you will need to use special or a courier that offers extended comp.

here you enter the ebay number in section 7 it says. They will refund what your item sold for and postage paid

Dis - glad you are here, got liner today thank you, perfect!

Disenchanted3 · 09/06/2010 20:08

ooh great maxy glad you ike it.

I miss it a little! lol, but it was just another thing to wash every other day for my mucky little princess!

shhhh · 09/06/2010 21:58
