How long to wait for a reply?

We bid for and won something on Ebay for £300. We will have to drive for 3 1/2 hours to collect it. We won it last night at 1am and emailed them first thing this morning to arrange pick up leaving home and mobile numbers. Up to this point we have had no communication from the seller.

Due to logistics it would be better for us to pick it up tomorrow, didn't have time to ask the seller before bidding if this was going to be ok, but due to the size of the item and the money involved rightly or wrongly thought the seller would be back to us as soon as possible. I know it is half term and all that but if you are away why put something on the auction to finish while you are away?

How long should we wait to say look sorry we can't do this and will have to look for the item else where? It's a trailer tent and we had hoped that we might get at least one night away before having to go back to school.

We're also really worried that if they haven't contacted now it could be tomorrow night before they get in touch and that is another day wiped out... a day we could be camping or buying another tent!

ARRRGHHH!!!! We're all of a tizz!

You can request their phone number through ebay - not sure how to do it but I think it's through Advanced Search.

I don't think there's a great deal you can do tbh.

You might also have trouble pulling out of the thing now that you've bid.

They could well have gone to work first thing this morning without checking their ebay. I doubt they've gone away, for the reasons you state, but there is a good chance they won't be on ebay until the w/e.

By pulling out you run the risk of getting an unpaid item strike.

We requested their number but it was wrong!!!!

If they don't get in touch today we won't be able to pick it up until next week and we'll probably get in trouble for that too and get a strike against us for it!

I think it's a bit soon to worry TBH.

If an item of mine had finished at 1am last night, I wouldn't be able to get on to ebay to check it until at least 4pm this afternoon. I lost my broadband connection a few weeks ago and didn't have access for 4 days. All sorts of reasonable reasons why they haven't been in contact.

I generally start to get irritated by non-contact after 2-3 days.

This wasn't last night this was thursday night.

Got the phone number from Ebay and it is wrong. The person who answered it said they had no idea what I was talking about.

Ebay won't help because we used a sniper to place the bid at 1am weds/thurs and it is an American site so we must be american or something.

if they were going on holiday while the listing was up why not make a note on the listing.

If they don't get back to us soon we won't be able to go and get it till next weekend.

If it is a family problem then I will apologise to them.

Hmm... I can see both sides here.

As far as I am concerned, contact from the seller within 2/3 days of the auction ending is reasonable. If they are away, they will probably be back this weekend.

Since you didn't contact them before bidding they don't know you need it asap and want to use it THIS week.

I don't know all the circumstances, but do think that if you wanted a tent to use this week you should have bought one sooner ! (Sorry)
