Would you buy something from someone with no seller feedback?

Hello, I know every seller has to start somewhere but he (or she) has just started selling new baby equipment such as pushchairs but has not had a sale yet and only has one feedback as a buyer last year. I suppose I am a little worried this stuff has fallen off the back of a lorry, I wouldn't mind if it was just ex-display.
Am I just being a worry wart?

is he registered as a business seller? If so is he showing his contact details? Maybe phone him with some questions and get a feel for if he is genuine or not.

I have done and it was fine.

I will also soon be that seller so hope very much that people will consider my good 'buyer' status suggests I am a reliable 'seller' as well.

Could you contact the seller and ask a couple of pertinent questions? Ie 'Is the item ex-display?' 'Any marks etc on it?'

Good luck.

How do you tell if he is a business seller?

Pacific, I would be much more at ease if he had good buyer status but he has only bought one item back in 2009.

thanks for your help

Send him a message asking if you can collect - if he's dodgy he will say no, if he has nothing to hide he'll welcome collection to avoid having to post.

Actually he prefers collection so that is one good mark in his favour (even if I want him to post it!) I'm over-thinking this aren't I!

to the right hand side of the listing under seller info it should say ' registered as a business seller' If it doesn't then I would avoid as he is already breaking the rules.
A business seller has to provide contact details somehwere on the listing, usually at the bottom.
Has he just put a load of stuff on all at once? All new stuff? I would send a message with a question about...anything really, and see how he replies. Try to make sure it's not a hijacked account.
Want to post a link so we can check it out?

I have sent him a question , he had replied to other questions on other items.

I don't like that he has not posted actual photos of the items he is selling, but generic pictures which could have been lifted from any website.

Personally I'd probably stay clear, but am once burnt, twice shy.

sixlostmonkeys · 02/06/2010 14:17

he is not registered as a business seller. He is using stock photos.
I'd say avoid.
If you go ahead I would say go and collect and inspect it thoroughly before parting with cash.
Reading through the listings and the q&as it is obvious he is clueless

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 02/06/2010 14:21

thanks, think I will bid lower than I usually would and will either get a bargain or a dud. As the old saying goes, if something looks too good to be true then it usually is!

I think you're okay with this seller, he's naive as he's offering collection and paypal which means he has no proof of you actually receiving the item if you collected and could be conned himself!
