If you think your item is going to sell for more than you bought it for would you refund the buyer the difference? I can't see anywhere to put a cap on the bidding?

It's about £100 off just now but I have 40 watchers?

I am planning on sending the buyer the receipt so they can register the 2 year warrenty and also I know the shop price has gone up a lot?

What?? No you keep the profit silly!!

Missus84 · 25/05/2010 20:08

No! The whole point of ebaying is to make money surely?

Missus84 · 25/05/2010 20:08

It's up to the buyer to research how much something is worth, and decide how much they want to pay.

Butterpie · 25/05/2010 20:09

You keep the profit-that is the whole point of ebay. They wouldn't bid if they couldn't afford it.

PrettyCandles · 25/05/2010 20:09

Why? People choose to pay what they think the item is worth or they can afford/are willing to spend. If they haven't shopped around surely that's their problem?

mustrunmore · 25/05/2010 20:10

As long as you havent said anything misleading then I dont see the problem!

Trafficcone · 25/05/2010 20:13

WTF? You celebrate and spend your earnings!! You know 40 watchers means nothing. They could easily have put the watch on before it started to rocket in price so now have no intention of bidding.

wonka · 25/05/2010 20:14

Really?

Thanks, It just feels a bit cheaky?

What item is it, out of interest??

nickschick · 26/05/2010 08:05

I sold a pair of brown linen trousers that were bought in the sale for £7.00 for over £20 I emailed the bidder to say -these arent anything special etc etc she replied that she already had 2 pairs from the same shop but also had the matching jacket and it was ideal for work so she was prepared to pay for them as they had since sold out.

Agree totally with the above posts, enjoy your success !

I know I have paid over the odds recently for a t shirt for my son, which was recently reduced in the sale. the thing was I couldnt get the size I wanted for DS and he had the matching cardigan already. It was no skin off my nose, it was the only was I could get it and the seller was probably happy too !

Thanks I need not have worried! It was a pushchair. It sold for slightly less than I paid for it.. I'm delighted. It will pay for our holiday cottage!
You are all a truely helpfull lot!

It is the laws of supply and demand. I live near a designer village where I can buy items that can be sold internationally for an excellent profit. The customers are delighted to get excellent genuine items and I get hundreds or thousands of pounds depending on how much I do. Fits in with the children and is great fun being paid to go shopping.

CantSupinate · 26/05/2010 19:49

I used to often see stuff on Ebay selling for more than I knew I could buy it for elsewhere. Not cheeky, just... people who don't bother to research where to buy things from!
