Ebay or Gumtree for selling furniture in London

I've never sold anything on Gumtree but am wondering if it might be a better alternative than Ebay for heavier pieces of furniture (kids bedroom furniture) as it will only be local people searching on gumtree.

Has anyone had experience of this? I'm not that worried about getting the highest price, I just want the stuff to go and get a reasonable price for it.

Any thoughts or experience?

I have always sold larger items locally rather than on eBay. I have had success with Gumtree, Adtrader and FreeAds - all websites which are free to advertise (AdTrader puts the ad in a paper as well). I have also sold a cot bed through our local Tesco noticeboard and some other things through the £50 and under section in the local paper. The latter two target a different range of people.

Another possibility for kid's stuff is Netmums as the adverts are local. I sold a climbing frame this way....

However, in a densely populated area like London you will have a good customer base within easy pick-up range for eBay.

You could try putting them on a range of websites and see if you get any offers. If you don't, post them on eBay on the next free-listing day at a reasonable starting price!
