Its been four days now. I have emailed them several times without any response. Can ebay make them pay?

can't even leave anything other than positiv feedback for them either which is very annoying!!

4 days since the auction finished?! That's a bit impatient, imho.

Really? You think its ok to leave it that long without paying? Think we'll have to agree to disagree but thanks anyway

One time I won an auction and the buyer didn't reply or send the item or anything for a week.
Turns out that her husband had just died (or so she said, I guess I could have been completely conned or something ).

She was so (repeatedly) apologetic about the delay in sending the item out (took about 3 weeks in the end, I think). I kept wondering what most Ebayers must be like if they would get so shirty about a mere week's delay in communication.

But heyho, if you don't want to cut people any slack for the possibility that they have a life, I guess that's your choice.

I allow 7 days before sending a message regarding payment and say that the item will be re listed if payment isn't received in next couple of days.

Obviously I would much prefer people to pay straight away but as a buyer if I came back to several emails after 4 days I'd be prett annoyed. Maybe they're away?

Actually, I apologise, I ended my last post too harshly.
But life does happen. Computers die, people go into hospital or have accidents, emails get misfiled into Spam folder, all sorts.

When I used to regularly frequent the Ebay seller fora the oft repeated guidance (from fellow sellers) was that you expected any transaction to take up to 30 days before opening a non-paying bidder dispute. That wasn't so long ago, less than 10 years.

Now it seems like people want everything instantly.

I think eBay states that buyers have 7 days to pay. You can't open a non-payment before that time (or you couldn't last time I did one).

I send a reminder after a few days, then again after 7 days and open dispute on 8th day. I usually find people do pay v. quickly, and pay within a day myself but I would be peeved with 'several' reminders in 4 days.
