How long do sellers have to send items?

Can anyone help? I won a huge bundle of clothes on ebay recently. Looks like a great bundle and it cost me a fair bit (over 50 pounds but I won't need to buy my son anything else for about a year so worth it). I paid for it immediately the auction ended and that's it. I haven't heard from the seller and 9 days later I haven't received the items. When do I start to worry?

Have you emailed the seller to ask if the item has been posted?

That would be the first thing, if they don't reply within say 48 hrs then you could contact eBay support.

message them and ask them when they will be sending them. If you hear nothing open a dispute for item not received...go through the process and either they will send you them or you will get a refund.
a seller has up to a week (as an ebay guide) to post stuff

BlameItOnTheBogey · 04/05/2010 14:36

Thanks for the replies. I've just emailed now. Ebay brought up a message saying it may take them a while to respond to my email as they are in a different time zone but the details on the auction clearly show a UK address. Am starting to panic now....

If you look back on your bid you should see where it says how long they will take, there are several options available to the seller - I usually use the 3 working days from Payment so there should be something there. Be aware that you had 3 days of bank holiday and a sunday from the week before so if you purchases them on Sunday last week they might not have been posted until Wednesday of last week and if you chose 2nd class could be the end of the week before you recieve them. So go back and have a look at the t and c's prior to making a formal complaint to Ebay about them and message the seller to ask when they were posted. my buyers frequently do this and i usually let them know when I will be posting and if there is a tracking no for an item I give it to them.

Hope that helps in some way ( also be aware I think you have up to 5 working days to post as an option!)

So if you check all the terms and then come back to us might be able to help a bit more.

Doodley - this is really helpful, thanks! I've checked the listing but I just can't see where it says how long they will take. Can you point me in the right direction?

Ah, right, have found this;

Courier:£15.00
Estimated delivery: Varies for courier* . You can contact the seller for more information.

So not much help. I have sent an email but am starting to stress that I'm going to lose my money. 15.00 postage is quite a lot - I didn't mind when I bid because I assumed that meant that the item would arrive relatively quickly and so it seemed reasonable for a big item but am starting to get cross now.

you can't lose your money - if you don't receive then open a dispute and you will be refunded in full

OK before panic really sets in Blameit - have you looked at the feedback to see if it has been posted?

Under your buying page on ebay it should have a section with item, what you paid, feedback etc and if it is highlighted it will show it has been posted.

Also have you checked with the sellers feedback from others to see what has happened in the past?

Whatever happens you won't have lost the money, especially if you paid via paypal. If you paid via cheque the cheque may not have arrived and cleared. Am afraid for higher valued items I wait until it has definitely cleared before posting. I recently got an e-cheque via paypal and waited until that had cleared, then (in t&c's again) I had 3 working days to post, have just done it today but because of the delay in preceedings I actually paid a little more to have it delivered but it was still within the alloted amount, I may have lost a little on the wrapping but not too much!

Hope that helps, it may be innocent but if it isn't then you shold be protected.

Thanks for the reply Doodley. No info on whether or not it has been posted and seller has 98% rating. No reply yet to my email. Will give it until tomorrow and then raise a dispute (thank goodness I paid with paypal).
