buyer wants a BIN price- active auction

A buyer has sent me a very polite question asking if I would consider ending an auction early has she would need it in time for an event on Friday.

My auction finishes Saturday and currently has one bidder and 6 watchers.

Firstly- I can I do this it I wanted to? Im not sure I even can. It seems a bit wrong as someone is bidding on it!

Secondly - how and what sort of price should I ask? RRP was £55- currently at £5. Also would need to increase postage to send next day or something.

you can't add a BIN once an item has a bid on it.
There has been mention on the boards of this trend of asking for BIN price and saying they need it quickly for son's birthday etc - they are just looking for bargains it seems and they probably end up listing the item themself at a profit. (alls fair in love and ebay I guess...) but still, it's up to the seller if they think they would get the price they want.

Thank you.

I was thinking of asking for £25 plus revised postage for next day.

If she really wants it then that will be the price....but still can i do it. End item for what reason? Is it against ebays rules I have good feedback so far and so does this buyer...dont want to get in trouble.

I have asked for a BIN before and always offered a price up front so the sellers know I am not trying to con them! If you would be happy with £25 plus postage then do it, you can always cancel the listing and send a message to the first bidder saying item is no longer available. If you think you will get more then keep auction going.

I was looking for a vintage eagle eye action man for my dad's 50th (you know the toy you always wanted for Christmas and never got?! this was his) and had researched thoroughly, they go for around £12-£20 depending on wear and tear etc, and offered 6 sellers £18 + postage, three replied, one saying no, one saying he wouldn't accept any less than £25 (ended up with final bid of £11 serves him right for being greedy!), and one that said they would sell for that price.

I don't think it breaks any rules, what you have to do is cancel auction and send your email address and they send funds directly to your paypal account. You can't leave or receive feedback though.

You aren't meant to sell outside of Ebay. If you have a bid you can't add a BIN price.

Hi ya..because of have a bid I think Im going to have the let the auction run as I cant end it and then relist.

Think I will say to the buyer that Im happy to end the auction early selling to the highest bidder once I have achieved £25. If she wants to bid - I will revised postage charge so she can have it first class recorded.

Therefore if she puts a bid of £25 in I will end it so she gets it.

How does that sound?

I get asked for BIN price a lot when selling things and if I already have a bid I never accept as it's unfair on the bidder.
I hate it when something you are bidding on suddenly disappears.
But I ama chicken and hate to break the rules

sixlostmonkeys · 21/03/2010 11:19

the bit about once you have achieved £25 won't work as you can't have a reserve for less than £50. If it gets bid up to £10 then you have to sell it for £10.
If you chose to cancel the bid and put a BIN on then I would include the extra postage in with your asking price. Rec del won't get it there any faster, you will 'next day post' which costs quite a lot

onadietcokebreak · 21/03/2010 15:15

Cheers what I meant was if she bids £25 I would end auction for her...but she hasnt replied yet so will wait and see if she wants it.

You can! What you need to do, is get the interested party to bid the summ you agreed upon, then go to the option "end auction early" and chose "sell to highest bidder". This way you are not selling off Ebay, and still protected by Paypal, etc.

onadietcokebreak · 24/03/2010 19:34

hi Scully...thanks thats what I did it the end...emailed her offering that as an option. She didnt even reply. Obviously just after a bargain and didnt like my BIN price

I am fed up with people asking for a BIN price, then turning nasty when they don't like it. I am not comfortable with people messaging me asking to buy things. Why they cant bid like the rest of us. So annoying!

gmtbst · 26/03/2010 21:02

I don't add BIN if asked. If I wanted to use BIN on my auction I would have added it at the beginning.
