I've just set up a new eBay account and have lots of things to sell including designer women's clothes, baby clothes and shoes, a table etc.

I've had a browse around eBay to get an idea of how people write up their items and am going to spend some time today photographing all the items.

I've heard people say something about Sunday being a good day (to list or end the listing?)?

Is there a flat rate I should charge for p&p so I don't have to weigh it all? Mainly clothes and shoes to sell.

How do you wrap the things you've sold? Do I need to buy lots of jiffy bags?

Thanks very much - would appreciate any tips.

MM

Look at completed listings to get an idea of what things sell for and to work out your start price. Start at the minimum you want for the item.
Weigh the item with the packaging and then look up the postal cost on the royal mail website. Add about 50p (no more) for packaging. Use recorded delivery - it is for your benefit not the buyer's so don't give an option, just use it.
Packaging - bubble wrap can be obtained from the fruit and veg section of the supermarket. Boxes from supermarkets local shops etc. Self seal postal bags can be bought cheaply on ebay and will be ideal for single items of clothing etc. Jiffy bags are useless and expensive.
Time your listings to end on a Sunday evening (although I find monday evening to be good too) check they don't end when Corrie, Eastenders, football match etc is on.
Keep your listing simple. Describe the item well, including any faults. Use photobucket for extra (Free) photos. Don't put things like "no returns" or "I don't accept responsibility...." etc because it's pointless - they can always return and you always have to accept responsibility.
Post promtly and send the email telling them you have posted.

Good luck! Have fun! Earn lots!

I sometimes bite the bullet with the extra costs involved, and I do buy it now on some stuff. Especially if I would be reeling if it sold for 99p and I knew it was worth over £100 - Just an example but you get my meaning. I have sold loads of baby/kids toys, handbags and stuff. They go really well as in reality we all know how expensive kids things are and how long they last or are needed. Sunday night is a good time to list, I think its cos people are usually at home preparing for Monday morning at work/school etc (yuk). Larger items I use the courier Hermes, they are very good and you can track your parcel's journey online - I think they are the cheapest courier at the moment, but don't quote me on that.
