Why do buyers bid if they don't intend to pay???

What's going on on ebay now? This has happened to me three times recently after being a seller for over a year and had relatively few problems.

The most recent item was a brand new item of children's clothing that was given to my son but just was not his thing. It was worth about £12 new and still had the label on - the buyer paid about £1.30 for it and my p&p costs were minimal (about £2). Anyway, 2 weeks later, she still hasn't paid and has not replied to either of my very polite and understanding emails asking if she still wants the item and can she let me know if not.

FFS.

Why go to all the trouble of bidding if you don't want it. I can understand if you get carried away in some bidding war and end up paying over the odds for something average but the item in question is BNWT and she got herself a bargain!

Rant over.

just file a non payer dispute and if she doesn't pay she will get a strike. A few strikes soon stops them messing about! - and you get your fees back and can relist.

I've been selling for years, but have to admit there has been more than the usual amount of non payers recently. Of course ebay should carry a health warning as most non payers couldn't pay due to breaking a toe, being rushed into hospital or having to attend 627 funerals. Fair enough (maybe) but when they didn't pay for a BIN, hey, all they had to do was remain seated while they clicked a few more buttons....
