Sold a table a few weeks ago, buyer collected in person, examined it in good light, paid and took it away happy. Three weeks later, has just emailed saying it's more scratched than the listing suggested and they're not happy. Asked me 'to respond'. WTF do they expect me to do about it now?!

After 3 weeks, I would think that your buyer would have a hard job proving that he hasn't scratched the table him/herself. Plus, as he didn't pay via paypal, he can't claim his money back that way.

If it was me, I would just find a polite way of saying "too late, buster!".

respond along the lines of....?

I am pleased that you were happy with your purchase when you collected it 3 weeks ago. As you will have noted upon examination 3 weeks ago, the table was in the condition described on the ebay listing. It is so unfortunate that it has since become scratched. Obviously this is totally out of my control and therefor can offer no comment on the matter.

Have emailed and told him am not offering a refund. He's now considering himself 'forced to take the matter up with Ebay'. No doubt a bad feedback en-route. Sigh.

What is the feedback on this buyer like? Also check the feedback he left for others - should give you an indication of whether he is a malicious chancer.
