... it's too tight on the shoulders.

She's asking if she can have a refund if she returns it.

Where do I stand on this?

Thanks, peeps.

you can make a second chance offer, i wouldn't be passing on the underbidder's details - as a buyer i'd find that rather dodgy, and perhaps she's found another coat in the meantime - too many variables, just go for a straight refund.

Wuxiapian · 19/09/2009 10:34

What a nightmare.

How does she cancel the transaction - frm which page?

Sorry to be so dim.

What's to stop her from selling it on ebay?

I think that's what I would do.

EldonAve · 19/09/2009 10:51

just stick to your guns and say you don't accept returns

lovechoc · 19/09/2009 11:00

sounds like an awful lot of unneccesary stress to me. hope you get the problem sorted out.

Wuxiapian · 19/09/2009 11:09

And, of course, there's the very real threat of me receiving negative feedback.

When i look at feedback from sellers and they have all good feedback but one i chalk it up to something like this and dont let it affect my opinion, if that helps?

Personally i would not refund--she can sell it herself and maybe next time she'll be more careful with her birthday money!

Liskey · 19/09/2009 13:01

How strange - I've bought stuff from ebay that doesn't fit before and have never left negative feedback to a seller about this or even told them if it didn't - Its not their fault its just something you've got to live with when buying stuff you can't try on.

Wuxiapian · 19/09/2009 18:12

Just basically told her there's to be no return/refund.

Also cancelled her bid on other item.

Now awaiting feedback.

Ebay is full of piss takers like this now.

Tons of threads on here where people then wreck the goods and claim they were faulty and get the money back via PayPal.

Better to find another way to flog this stuff.

The cheeky buggers would dare do this to a shop they'd be told to take a long walk on a short pier.

I have had a couple of these type of disputes. I always won. If the item is as described (my descriptions are always detailed and v. honest) the buyer doesnt have a case.

If you have good feedback one negative doesnt make much difference.

I sold a lovely brand new pair of linen maternity trousers. The buyer's boyfriend contacted me to say they couldnt be new because they were not 30' long!

It freaked me out much more than it should have done (sleepless night ) but I still won.

Another buyer emailed me after she had won and paid to say she needed the item by the next day! When she didnt get it (suprise) she tried to get a full refund without returning item. Yeah right.

Can you still reply to the feedback like you used to? Thats always handy.

Pannacotta · 19/09/2009 19:52

I agree with those who say dont refund.
Its up to her to check measurements before bidding.
She can sell it on if it doesnt fit/she doesnt like it.
Paypal wont find in her favour if she opens a dispute, if she leaves neg f/b then you can respond to this to explain what happened (at least I think you can still respond).
