I have just recieved some bedding i ordered, 2 double sheets, and two sets of pillow cases. The pillowcase listing specifically said that the colours matched their sheets, so i ordered. Now i have sets which dont match, sheets and pillowcases are different shades. Now i dont really want bedding that doesnt match, but also dont want to lose out on two lots of postage if i have to return them, i will be out by about $14 in postage costs. If item is not as described can i get a full refund including postage? and does this count as not as described?

TIA

yes this is 'not as described' (SNAD)
you are entitled to a refund (full amount you paid.) A good seller would refund your return postage costs, but isn't obliged to. A carefully worded email might encourage them to do so

livinginadreamworld · 27/05/2009 15:55

well, in my slight upset having recieved them i sent:

have just recieved and am not impressed by the colours, ie they do not match!! had i wanted sheets and pillowcases of different shades i would not have gone to the trouble of finding a seller who specifies pillowcase colours match sheet colours! Please advise as to your returns policy.

im not sure if this was worded as carefully or as aloquently as i would like, but will await a reply!

are they brand new and do the packs state there same color as that would not be sellers fault

livinginadreamworld · 27/05/2009 16:18

they are brand new, from an Ebay store which specifies matching colours. They have been packed into one packet together. with no colour labels. the colours are close but when on top of one another they definatly dont match.

so the seller has replied:

SORRY THE SHEETS AND PILLOWCASES DO NOT MATCH,MY MANUFACTURER IS CHANGING ON TO NEW SHADES,I TRIED TO GET THEM TO MATCH THE SHADES BUT OBVIOUSLEY THEY HAVEN'T GOT IT QUITE RIGHT AS YET,JUST RETURN THEM AND I WILL SEND YOU A REFUND

do you think i should email back asking if they will be refunding postage? or just send them back and wait and see. I really dont want to be left out of pocket for the postage and would look at trying to colour match some pillowcases elsewhere if that would be the case...I don't know if emailing asking about postage would be taken as cheeky! WWYD?

first, remember if you send them back you must send them recorded delivery.

Maybe send a message along the lines of -
Hi - thank you for your prompt reply. I can return them to you and I understand that when you receive them you can issue a refund. I was just wondering at what stage I would receive the refund for the return postage. Many thanks in advance..... luv n kisses, mrs livinginadreamworld xx

don't put luv and kisses

depending on the reply you can make a decision as to whether to proceed or ask for a partial refund so that you can then try to buy further matching stuff

Insanity · 27/05/2009 20:37

I had this recently with something I ordered off Ebay.

I returned the item recorded delivery and a few days later I received a full refund including original postage (which I wasn't really expecting) If they are business registered ebay seller then you will probably get the whole payment and postage refunded as the paypal refunds favour the buyers. Something to do with the buyers protection act when paying for goods not seen.

livinginadreamworld · 28/05/2009 19:10

thanks for that slm and insanity...

they have offered full refund including original postage, i will still be out of pocket by return postage though... heavy so about £7.

is it cheeky to say i will keep them if you refund me a fiver/tenner?

not very good at this lark, have always been really lucky with my ebaying!
