It's from the desginers @debenhams range, bought last year (I think, could have been 2007) It's a Pierce Fionda one, originally cost £140. It's been worn twice and dry cleaned.
I would appreciate some ideas for a starting price, I can't think, don't want to go too low, but also not too high that no one will be interested

have you tried searching for the same thing on ebay (long shot I know)

that the first thing I do to try and gauge a price starter ish type thing

no help probably but BUMP

ScorpiowithabigS · 18/05/2009 14:18

I think i would put starting of 40 ish, and maybe expect half its value back.

Try to search completed listings.

not sure if this will work

I sold a Laura Ashley dress that was over £100 new - and sold it for a fiver on ebay.
You won't get much for it, I certainly doubt you'll get anything life half its original price, but something's better than nowt!

I've looked for the same thing but can't see anything that looks like it, although there are a few dresses by the same designer on there.

I sold a NWT long Tall Sally dress the other day, I got in the sale for £20 and sold it for £35, but this one isn't new with tags.

Well, I think the minimum reserve is £50. If you think you could get that, I would start at 99p and put a £50 reserve on it.

Starting low brings in a lot more bidders, and once they're bidding, they get excited and carried away because its 'theirs'. Its all about the thrill

Starting high in my experience removes a high proportion of bidders straight away.

Just make sure you get some good accurate photos that do it justice.

get a general idea of what that designer fetches on ebay and price accordingly..make sure you add enough postage to cover wrapping it properly so your buyer gets it in decent state.
Don't expect to get lots of money for it, but as I said before, even a fiver is better than nothing..
otherwise, could you see if a dress agency locally would be able to sell it for you?

You need to keep the start price low, peaple seem to prefer that, even if they still bid much higher thsn the original price.
