I'd pay anything for the postage for what I've just bought! my baby has lost her fave blankie in lakeside, thurrock, last friday and after her and I shed buckets of tears, i found an exact same model on e-bay!!!!! Keeping vigil by the letterbox waiting for the replacemnt to arrive! Hopefully the screaming at bed-time will then stop. bless her!
Been ringing Lakeside every day to check if Pinky's been found.Sure they're getting tired of me already.

So i laughed when I read your comment. Nice One!!

Most people complain when they discover that the thing they paid, say, £5 postage for cost £1.23 to post. That is a rip off.

dizzydixies · 28/04/2009 20:23

but soupy what about the packaging and the transport to the post office etc - I don't up the postage but then I use old jiffy bags and walk to the PO

thats why I consider it to be a bit more? could be wrong though

dizzydixies · 28/04/2009 20:25

although, am confused by my latest purchase

buy it now with postage £12 or bid on 7day auction with £15

its the exact same article so why 2 differing postage rates?

or am I completely naive

sheena1 · 29/04/2009 18:16

i must admit as a sometimes seller if i have items on cheap id startin bit £0.05p I will make postage slightly higher than it should be x

bubblagirl · 29/04/2009 18:29

i have paid 6 pound for something to be sent expecting it to be packed well was a games console for my ds expected a box it was sent in bag and cost 1.50 to send that annoyed me as it wasnt even packed well to protect it luckily came in one peace but considering i paid 6 pound could of packed it with bubble wrap at least

i have over charged in past and have refunded person i always state postage is rough and if it comes to less i will refund

southeastastra · 29/04/2009 18:30

dp had someone who insisted we send a pound with his package as he only wanted second class.

so he paid £2 postage and it cost £2.80 to post 2nd class.

wonder if he'll resent that pound

Sometimes it can be difficult to knwo how much an item will be to post - I expect to see an extra £1 on there for packaging. I would never dream of charging for time to go to the post office

So I guess if I recieved an item and paid z amount postage, but when it arrived the ostage was really muh lower or the packaging used didn't reflect the P&P charge then I'd be frustrated. probably not enough to complain, although may comment on the feedback and would definitely reflect it on the stars part of the feedback.

Hulababy · 29/04/2009 18:34

Isn't it against ebay rules to overcharge on P&P?

Disenchanted3 · 29/04/2009 18:36

I chared £7.50 to post an item to Ireland, posted today, it cost £3.50.

I have emailed the buyer telling them I will refund £3 upon items arrival.

FlyMeToDunoon · 29/04/2009 18:41

I find that my scales never tally with the post office and sometimes exactly the same items wrapped identically have cost different amounts.
So I always round up my postage.
I did refund someone who bought two items together and paid the double postage. No acknowlegment or thanks so wonder why I bothered.

Flibbertyjibbet · 29/04/2009 18:47

I weigh things on my kitchen scales, look up the weight on my chart from the post office and put that plus a bit for packaging IF I have had to buy some ie parcel with lots of gaffa tape on it or haven't had a jiffy bag to re-use.
However if its borderline on my kitchen scales I will ask for the higher amount, then if the post office scales show the smaller amount i refund through paypal.
I just don't get this charging for time to go to the post office.
If you go to a shop you pay the price, you don't get something added on at the till for the owners petrol coming to work that morning.

clairesyliz 11, i just have got my son a replacement comforter we call ours "mr suckie" got the same one has we lost of ebay ,and he dont know the difference in fact we have 3 the same now my son wont sleep whithout one so i know how u feel ,if i buy off ebay i always pay p&p they ask for unless in buying more than one item then i ask for a bit knocked off

ClairesyLiz11 · 30/04/2009 09:51

Ah thats good news!
I'm paranoidly (if thats a word?) checking e-bay every day for another one to have for reserve! Kids are so funny, my little boy has got Boogie and Spare bear bear. Identical to us, but he can tell them apart a mile away.

Still waiting for the postman.......

Meglet · 30/04/2009 09:58

I am so anal about e-bay. I package items up (but don't secure it) then weigh them at home so I know exactly how much to put for postage. Its a PITA but I always get the postage right. But as it drives me mad I don't get time to e-bay much. I wish I could be more slap-dash about it, I might make more money. I always add 75p or so for packaging, bubble + plastic envelopes get quite expensive.

curlywurlycremeegg · 30/04/2009 10:17

I bought a new sky box on eBay last week, listing stated £20 for 48 hour courier service, which was steep but I was happy to pay that for 48 hour delivery. Next day I got a paypal email stating that the seller had printed of a parcelforce standard parcels postage sticker from them, that means it will take anything up to 10 days to get to me, there is no way I would have bid on the item if I they had stated £20 for a standard parcel service, I will complain when it eventually arrives and ask for a large refund on the postage cost.
