Refund

I need a little advice here.

I bought an item for £18 + £8.50 postage.

If I'd bought this item NEW it would have been £60.

It's turned up (finally!) along with a note from the seller, telling me of some 'stains' which they hadn't noticed before and to contact them if I would like to come to 'an agreement'

The 'stains' are where the dye has run - it's obviously been cleaned or has been wet (neither mentioned in the listing)

but, to be fair, it doesn't detract from the usability of the item and only slightly detracts from how it looks.

On the other side, there are LOTS more scratches and wear and tear than was mentioned.

I'm not going to send it back - it's not worth it (and the seller knows it!)

So what do I do? Do I just let it go - the item IS usable... Or do I ask for a small refund? Maybe the postage? as the item ISN'T as described and wouldn't have gone for so much if the true damage had been listed.

thanks,

I would ask for a partial refund. It's obvious from her note that she's expecting you to do this and she would be happy to agree to your terms.

You get your item very cheap, it's still OK to use and she gets some money and a positive feedback. You don't have to shell out to post it back. Win win.

I would suggest she refunds half the sale value.

BTW, this happened to me recently only I was the seller. Sold some jeans, didn't realise they had a hole in ( the hole was in an odd place). The jeans went for a quite a bit more than I had anticipated so I contacted the seller before I posted and offered to patch the hole and refund half her money. She was happy, i was happy - result!)
