Have got an item for sale on t'bay.

No reserve, a similar but older one went the other night for £363.

I sold mine last week to a member of the peerage (apparently) but she couldn't collect it so have relisted. I've got 58 watchers and have had about 5 offers despite there not being a BIN.

I'm covered if I accept £450, as that was roughly my own outlay - but I don't know whether to hold out and try to make a little profit, or sell it to the nice people who are offering that amount.

Help, what should I do? almost a week left to run, it's at £132.

lol, yes that would be typical....you could turn it into a chicken pox party

Yes I know - just that we have Things to Do coming up and don't want ds to be ill for his birthday!

I know, better to get it young.

Ah well at least it's sorted though for you.....chicken pox, why you anxious? Best to get it young, can be really horrid as an adult!

It would have been exciting wouldn't it - but the lady has just been to get it, and she was on time, perfectly lovely, and had two tiny children with her who behaved brilliantly.

I'm really pleased she has it. Only thing was, her children were in the middle of chicken pox and mine haven't had it - partly I wish they would but partly I am a bit anxious!!! I'll just have to wait a couple of weeks and see

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! ha ha ha ha ha. You can't say that now about better offers, you have to be very happy with what you have but would have been nice to see what it went for!

Well, I had another very brusque offer complete with mobile phone number so I could ring them, and then heard from someone else who said they expected it would pass £500 so I ought to leave it, it now has 71 watchers (that's the most I've ever had on anything!) but the nice lady emailed back saying no to my 495. So I just mailed her straight back and said she could have it for 450.
To be honest it is all very well riding the wave of excitement for a while, but at the end of the day I have back what I paid and it's being picked up tomorrow (hopefully) so I am happy. And it saves me a lot of worrying!!

I won't end it till it's definitely gone, as collecting that many watchers again would be an achievement and I am quite proud

Just hope people who were watching/bidding don't get too stroppy with me. Also hope I don't get a better offer before tomorrow...

yes, you are right... i know nothing about this item, just speaking in general terms

Report
maxybrown · 27/04/2009 14:30

yes, but this is also very popular item and also rare. i agree with what you say but also depends on what the item is.

I don't think it's about being greedy.

Something's only worth what people are willing to pay.

Hiya, I have often made offers on items on ebay at fair value to me and then when the sellers said no, I often won them way less than offered or didn't bother to bid if I got an alternative (and watch the items go for peanuts) - just goes to show!

I agree with the not being greedy option and selling for a price you are happy with.

Good luck

Thanks Maxy and Marypops

Hmm. Well I only paid £425 plus listing fees of about £12, so I am happy with 495. I'll see if this person takes the offer, I've told her I am not going to be annoyed if she thinks it's too high.

I'll just wait and see - after all if people are offering that much as a buy it now, they will probably be prepared to bid that high as well. I'm fairly confident it'll get a goodish price but I don't know if it'll go over 500.

I'll update you later!!

flightattendant25, trust in it!! Let it run. Forget the rain and the pig flu.....it is payday for a lot of people end of this week. I think, if you start something low, you have to be happy for it to go at that price, as obviously it can, (unlikely with this but you know...)or start at a higher price, with a reserve or a buy it now or best offer. That is also true about the offers what you said, but people do also make offers to get it cheap at beg. I asked someone for a buy it now on an item of clothing and luckily for her she decided to let it run as the 99p start went for over £20!!! Just on an item of baby clothing.

I think people will let the bidding run away as they don't come up very often. I think they are lovely.

Ok, I have replied offering it for £495 - i would be happy with that and I do feel it might go higher if I left it, but would rather it went to nice people who can collect it tomorrow, than wait and see.

It's a risk either way and I don't want to be greedy so hopefully this is fair.

You never know though. I've made good offers on things before just because I really wanted to secure them - you know, when you can't deal witht he anxiety of bidding!!

Also, it is raining, nobody wants a trike in the rain...and we might all be quarantined by next week because of pig flu, so really i don't want to be in quarantine with a spare tricycle hanging around.

I'd leave it and let it run people do early offers as they know full well it's going to go for more than that in the hope that YOU don't know that and let them swipe it for a bloody good price.

I will leave it till later today I think in case others get back to me. Gosh this is so difficult.

Thankyou!! Well, I said I would let her know by today and I'm going to feel really bad if I say no. Plus she might be so fed up she doesn't bid.

Like you said maybe people are just watching to see if it goes really cheap, and I haven't a reserve price, so it might not make what I need it to.

Oh dear!!!

Just catching up on this thread.

That's a very emotive item and I think letting it run in the last few minutes might see soe people desperate to get hold of it.

ANd, as Maxybrown says, it's just the right time of year.

Good luck with it!!!

keep it on there I would say.....they are beautiful and is the right time of year....plus, people can get carried away with bidding...the thrill of winning and all that. If lots of people making offers then they are desperate to have it. leave it to run!!!!!
