that the item of clothes ( which is incidentally two pieces) is stained.
I have had an email saying that there are 3 big stains on the back of a top I have just sold.

I am flabbergasted as the item had a few little marks on it , which I put in the listing but not 3 big brown marks! I am amazed and I dont know how to reply to this, its thrown me?

She is talking of a refund but she only paid £1 for the 2 pieces I dont know what to do.

Can I have some advice of what to say/do.
Does this thing happen alot?

Wow, 10am start.

I am still catching up my beauty sleep from last sunday's 5am get up!

Yes, 10AM! I love 'em. Indoors, too.

I've flogged off £180 worth of stuff this year alone.

People say, 'Oh, people want something for nothing at boot sales,' but seeing on these threads what stuff is going for on Ebay these days, it works out about the same after fees.

And much less hassle.

I can't be arsed arguing with buyers, luckily I haven't had many problems but if they say there is a fault I don't ask for a return, I just tell them to keep it/give it to charity... apologise and refund them (then block them ) It means I keep my feedback and they go away happy.

I don't agree that the buyer should pay return postage on an item that is faulty - if it doesn't fit then fair enough but a faulty item shouldn't leave the buyer out of pocket.

expatinscotland · 26/04/2009 16:09

Yeah, but all too often, the item isn't faulty; the buyer is trying it on because they don't like the item.

That's why I don't sell on Ebay anymore.

If you're that picky, you need to be going to a shop and buying it or from an online shop.

Gravitygirl · 26/04/2009 19:26

Exactly Expat, thats what my DH reckons!!! there is no way it was faulty/stained apart from the few specks on the front which I put to cover myself rather than hideous fault on garment.

Oh well I live and learn.
We do boot sales every year but I wanted to put my good clothes on ebay after hearing the make I had sold well.

expat- I disagree about buyers trying it on- I have received too many low cost items that have been stained or marked and it wasn't mentioned in the description, and photos were too low res to see. I am a seller too- my items are always scrutinised carefully while listing, and I always mention any flaw, however tiny.

I may be picky, but how is that my problem when I only bids on items described as excellent condition which then arrive looking like crap? That is sellers lying blatantly because they know buyers won't bother returning as it isn't worth the hassle and the postage.
