Just to get an idea on the lower price end, what sells well? I have watched a couple of items that I have similar but they didn't go

I have recently been using ebay to have a clear-out and have found vintage collectables doing well. Tin toys, bits of china, clocks, teapots that sort of thing. Jewellery isn't moving at all.

I don't bother to sell clothing so can't help you there.

Things that start at 99p are getting a lot of watchers and quite a few bids.

It's hard to judge, really. I sometimes sell things that go for really high prices and then think, oh I must sell something similar. So list something similar and it doesn't sell.

No rhyme or reason.

You have to look at lots of 'completed listings' for similar stuff to get any idea.

And it varies over time - a couple years ago out-of-print childrens books sold really well, but then all the potential buyers had bought the ones they wanted so now they don't. Ditto vintage computer stuff - BBC Micros used to sell for £50 to nostalgic geeks but now they all have one they're under a fiver.

Childrens clothes tend not to go for much. Techie stuff does quite well. Anything in a box tends do much better than without. Describing the condition in detail and adding the phrase 'from a smoke- and pet-free home' (if it is!) helps.

I find that starting at 99p for a popular item doesn't start a useful bidding war as it only attracts people who will bid up to about £2. If I think an item will sell, I'd be better off listing at 2.99 or more and paying the 15p listing fee, and getting one bid.

I recently put lots of old books up at 99p, just to see what happened. Looks like 2 will sell and the rest will be off to the charity shop.

All a bit random, really.

China that is no longer manufactured and hard to obtain does well.

Have done well with childrens Mini Boden clothes and Jojo Maman clothes, M&S & John Lewis ok.

Haven't done very well with books. Childrens toys probably best to do at Xmas.

I normally start the bidding at 99p but am not sure if this is the best thing to do or not.

Did well with some Ikea nursery furniture.

Think seasonally too. No point listing winter clothes now, or footmuffs, think sunglasses and summer sandals etc

I just checked out what playstation2s are doing on completed listings and was surprised to see people are buying them still, so am going to dig mine out this weekend, it's not seen light of day for years so will be happy to get £25

Good idea, I'm in.
Just bought a Phil n Teds on eBay for £225 so could do with making that back.
