When to start a dispute?

I bought an item a week past Monday there (and it was before 8 in the morning!!) and still haven't received it. Have messaged the seller yesterday asking if it had been sent etc and have heard nothing. Do you think it's too early to start a dispute?

I had trouble paying for something recently (paypal cocked up - honest) and I got a dispute after 2 weeks. I've no idea if that is usual or not (I am no longer in dispute and my lovely furniture is here).

i think you have to give it 15 days as that can be expected time even for first class post to arrive anything after that would be classed as lost in post so 15 days with regular emails to seller they may be on holiday as its easter so dont get to panicky my post has been arriving late this end bought things about same time arrived today

sixlostmonkeys · 16/04/2009 17:33

you can open a dispute 10 -45 days after payment, so, as the seller isn't communicating i'd open it now.

15 days applies to the royal mail but has no relevance to ebay disputes.

if the seller has been on holiday it would have shown on the listing. If no info about holidays then they need to at least communicate with their buyers

I have been following this with interest,as I am in a similar situation.
I paid for an item on 3rd of april and have not recieved,sent a really nice message saying I understand that easter could be holding things up ect,no reply at the moment.
I would like to know if it is possible to prove that an item has not been recieved,would hate someone to think I was lying,

The annoying thing is that I know this person has been online. Looking at her stars though, her despatch time isn't good and that annoys me. If your selling things on ebay and quick enough to accept payment then you should send things out ASAP as far as I'm concerned! If I'm going to be late sending things out (and I'm talking two days!!) because the kids are ill etc then I always message my buyers and let them know. I'm giving it until tomorrow's post and if it still hasn't arrived then I'm starting a dispute, even if it only put the frighteners up them!!

Yes,me too,although I will leave it untill the weekend.
I did not recieve an item a few months ago,seller got really stroppy with me,as it was only a 99p item,I let it go,and even gave her good feed back but this item was more expensive,and I really wanted it.

heronsfly the onus is on the seller to prove delivery - by tracked method - if they cannot provide a singature or tracking number which pp can look at and see was delivered and recieved then the buyer would always get their money back.

Well it eventually arrived this morning and I'm really pleased with it so have left positive feedback but marked down the stars for despatch time and communication.

I have had a message back,just saying ok will refund money, this item sold for a LOT less than it was worth,a little bit of me wonders if it was actually sent,but at least I am getting the money back.
Glad you got yours ok, pebbles{grin}
