Is this dodgy? Getting e-mails about my 'cash price' for item....

I'm selling a camera worth about 300pounds on ebay and I have received 2 e-mails from potential buyers - one asking me what my buy-it-now price is and if their son can pick it up and pay in cash, and the other asking what my 'cash price' is. I'm new to selling, is this a dodgy scam?? Any advice would be great!

Ignore, ignore, ignore. I assume you are selling on an auction format? They are trying to bypass the system. Tell them to bid if they interested.

I think the big risk would be that you take it off eBay, they turn up at the door, and then say "Oh, actually I've only got £X". Then you either have to take the lower price, or else have to go through the whole thing again with relisting it. I'd always go for payment by Paypal to be sure the money is there before I part with the goods.

Asking for the Buy It Now price isn't necessarily dodgy. Lots of items are set up with a Buy It Now option but if you haven't done this I'd just tell them there is no Buy It Now price, they'll have to bid for it.

I guess the cash thing is up to you. It's probably safest to only accept payment by paypal as its secure.

I don't think I'd like strangers coming to my door with cash!

nothing wrong with cash. Much safer than paypal tbh.

Thanks everyone, I tool your advice and stuck with the auction.
