Dilemma

I have listed my Emmaljunga twin pram. It currently has 19 watchers and bids up to £50 with a reserve of £125. I've had lots of questions about it too.

Someone has emailed asking about a BIN price. I replied asking them what they had in mind. I had another email from them saying they weren't sure about how much to offer and what was the reserve. They live locally so could collect same/next day.

So, my dilemma is do I end the auction early and know that I won't have to potentially struggle to pack the thing for a courier collection, if it even meets the reserve or gamble and hope there's a bidding frenzy and it goes beyond it's reserve.

I've been very reluctant to put it on ebay at all because it's such a lovely pram. I don't know what to do...................

I don't think you can end the auction early if you have bids on it.

Check with the ebay help section before you believe me though.

I'm assuming £125 is the least you'd take for the pram then?

If so, because of the circumstances, I'd probably email back and let them know the reserve but say that you were hoping to get a bit more than that because of the watchers etc. Then see what they come back with.

It would be easier though to sell to someone who could collect. I had to courier a pram I sold on ebay and it was a nightmare trying to wrap it etc!

think Squonk is right.

It it doesn't meet the reserve then they can still buy it off you at the price that you've said.

X-posts with Squonk, I misread the OP and didn't realise you already had bids. I'm not sure you can even put a BIN on if there's already bids - but I may be wrong!

fryalot · 10/03/2009 23:08

you could email them back and say that you would obviously much prefer for them to win it as they are local, but you can't do a BIN as there are already bids on it.

I don't think there is a problem with telling them what the reserve is.

I am sure that with that amount of watchers, and some early bids already that it will go for more than the reserve.

How long is left on it?

mogs0 · 10/03/2009 23:08

I though I could becuase the reserve hasn't been met yet. I too could be wrong though!!! I'll go and have a look.......

I just checked and I can't put a BIN on but I could end it at the current highest bid (if they bid up to the reserve).

It has 5 days left and there is only one other like it on ebay at the moment which has a start price of £180.

I have emailed and told them the reserve. On the one hand I don't want to be greedy but on the other I know it is worth loads more than £125.

I think I'll sleep on it and see if they email back tomorrow.

Thanks for the replies.

my advice would be:

let the auction run

mogs0 · 10/03/2009 23:21

ok, thanks!

Tequila - I packed a Micralite buggy last night which is why I was tempted by this bidder!! It took me ages and if I have to courier this one it'll be in 2 parcels! BUT, it can be done (I still have a dozen packing boxes from a house move over 12 months ago!!).

I have 32 watchers now and an enquiry about shipping to Oz. When I checked with my regular courier it's going to cost £169 for each of the 2 parcels!!!!! The lady was still interested even after I told her the shipping costs.

I really hope it goes to someone who'll collect it. Secretly, I hope it doesn't meet it's reserve so I can keep it!!!!!
