If you were listing an item that had a tag which said age 6 and you had to pick a category of either 5-6 or 6-7 which would you go with?

6-7.

at the buyer. It would have been wrong to put it in 5-6 because it is not for 5 year olds.

I would have listed 5-6 just because I would look to the biggest size when buying iyswim. Although if your buyer's child is in age 6 clothes, which is the same as the one you sold, then she does seem a bit unreasonable.

Every single item I have ever had which states only one age has tended to mean 'up to' that age iyswim.

I have things aged 4 for my 3 year old which are exactly the same size as his 3-4 things.
If I had bought him something stated as '3-4' on ebay and it turned out to be 'age 3' it wouldnt fit him ime.

Unless you stated in description that item was labelled age 6 rather than age 6-7, I think you should refund and re-sell, sorry.

Have you measured it against clothes you have in sizes 5-6 and 6-7? I would bet money it measures the same as the 5-6 stuff.

It should be in 5-6. If you look at some brands, like Next, that use both sets of sizing (ie 5-6 and 6), you will see that the european CM sizes on the tags are the same for 5-6 and 6.

Have you put in the listing anywhere that the item is age 6-7 years? If you've said that its 6 years but just listed it in the 6-7 catagory then the buyer has no cause for complaint. If you've stated that it's 6-7 years then Im afraid you're in the wrong.

If you advertised it as age 6 then that is what she bought - I can't see how she has any come back on that really.

sixlostmonkeys · 03/03/2009 12:27

As you have stated that is is age 6 it is unlikely she would win an item not as described dispute.

If she hasn't yet asked for a refund but is just complaining you can either offer a refund on return (in condition it was sent) (you do not have to refund her return postage as the error is on her part for not reading the listing) or you can do nothing and see if she calms down.
If she opens a dispute you can either offer the refund as above or let it go through dispute. As the listing clearly states age 6 paypal will more than likely find in your favour.

Of course she can leave a neg FB - so it's up to you how you proceed. I'd keep all correspondence short, polite and simply stating facts.

I would say it is 5-6 but if her child usually wears age 6, its not your fault.

I would list in 5-6, however, if you have been clear about the size in the listing then you are not responsible for the item fitting her child, it's the chance you take when buying from ebay. If she wanted a guarantee that it was going to fit then she should've gone to a shop. She is being very unreasonable, IMO. I hope she withdraws her neg.
