Hi,I have won a bid on ebay and the seller is coming to deliver it as he/she lives locally.I asked her if i can pay when he/she comes to deliver but insists on me paying by paypal first. Is there something fishy? I mean i dont have prblems paying by paypal but i dont understand the reason.

The money is around 40 pounds so not like few quids.

Please let me know..

as long as she delivers and you pay then theres no problem, but can csee why you would be abit miffed.

maybe she wants to pay for something else with paypal herself? and needs your money to fund it?

dont know really, but its liek that with all things, you pay and hope they deliver.

Tamarto · 17/02/2009 15:55

Actually by her insisting you pay by paypal she's opening herself up for fraud as she will have no proof of delivery.

No idea unless she just likes to stick ridgedly to ebays rules.

SoupDragon · 17/02/2009 15:57

I would imagine she just wants to be paid before making the effort to drive somewhere to deliver it!

Flightattendant27 · 17/02/2009 15:59

She might just prefer to know she's been paid already, rather than turn up and have someone tyre kicking as it were, trying to reduce the price?

It could be any number of reasons but you still have the power to get your money back so it is probably fine.

Just in worst case scenario that i pay and she doesnt deliver, will it be easy to raise dispute with paypal and get my money back? Or is it a painful long process to get my money back from paypal. She will clearly have no proof of delivery. Also in her history she is fairly new. She has only sold 2 items so far but she has positive reviews (none of then local delivery though).

I wouldn't panic about it, to be honest. She probably thinks she is covering herself if you have paid first, althoug, as Tamarto says, she isn't being too wise.
It's not too hard to get your dosh back in the event of non-delivery. If they have no proof of postage then you'll be fine.
