Can you predict a non payer after a few days of no payment or communication?

Hi,

On Sunday I sold a coupon for a restaurant. I was amazed that people were buying things like this, I stumbled across it by accident and decided to take my chance.

Anyway I sold it on Sunday for all of 50p with a reasonable (IMO) postage charge of 60p to cover for first class and the cost of the envelope.

I emailed the buyer on the same day to send their invoice and have not heard anything back.

The buyer has no feedback history at all and I suspect that they may have completely forgotten about it, or decided they do not want to go to that restaurant after all and so are not paying.

Maybe I am being very cynical and unfair but the fact that they have no feedback makes me wonder.

Obviously it is not the money as I can survive without the 50p but it is the principle that they may have wasted my time.

The coupon expires at the end of Feb and I won't be bothering to relist it due to the low value.

My boss mentioned to me last week that her husband sometimes bids on things and then never bothers to check if he has won them. I wonder if there are a lot of people like this around?

Have you guys ever had a feeling that a buyer is not going to pay and were you correct?

The low value and lack of feedback doesn't bode well. However, I once forgot I had bid on somethiung really nice and was in a real panic when I remembered, this was about a week after the auction wnded. Luckily for me the seller had been very patient. So I'd give it at least a week. You could drop them a line, messages via ebay get sent to your email in box as well so if they are checking email regularly they should see it.

Dont forget though that some people dont have 24 hours 7 days a week access to a pc - they may use the library or weekends only or at work.

But you may be right that they dont really want it - but why not say so!!!
