Got to send to the Czech Republic FGS!

I state clearly in my listings that I only ship within the UK, however I still get inundated with people from overseas asking me for postage costs. Now someone has bid on and won an item and I have to send it to the Czech Republic! It's a baby's snowsuit so light but bulky. Any advice?

Hi I used to have this problem loads and I always used to state in bold capital letters uk bidders only and you still get someone who obviously can't be bothered to read bidding on it.

If you go into seller preferences. (I think thats what its called) you can bar any non uk residents from bidding. If you weigh the snowsuit and phone the post office and tell them the weight and its destination they'll be able to give you the postage price.

You can check online very simply here. It really is a piece of piss I don't know why people stress about posting overseas, the whole process is exactly the same as posting in the UK.

Someone's just done this to me again, and he's trying to do me I think, "helpfully" telling me how much the item should weigh. Except it's more than 2.5 times the weight he's given me, very glad I checked it out myself! The link you gave is great sue but it doesn't give any results for this Italian package. Is there a way I can get out of this sale and give a second chance to someone else?

But if someone's willing to pay the postage, why not ship outside the UK?

sixlostmonkeys · 18/01/2009 17:08

posting overseas is just the same process as postage within the uk. Simply weigh it and work out the postage cost (just as you would do for UK)

If you really want to reduce your number of possible customers then simply change your preferences to prevent non UK bidders from bidding

I always offer to ship abroad, approx 50% of my items go overseas. I find it no hassle at all. MakkaPakka, Italy will be on that link, you need to tick the box for overseas and then it will bring up a drop down box of countries. HTH.

Have just checked the link and its fine. 500g to Italy is £3.61. You just type in the weight of your parcel. Easy peasy!

I was trying to get something that weighed 2.75kg sent and it didn't give me any results, will try again later in case it's a bug. Thanks for your help

You sure it weighs 2.75kg? It seems that, that is too big for a package to Italy or Czech Republic. What is it? You can do it International Parcelforce, but that would be from £36.59.

He's just emailed to say he doesn't mind if I cancel it so I'll offer him the P&P and see what he says. Thanks very much for the advice, I haven't sold much before now (suspect that shows)

Yep . Very curious what it was that was that heavy?

IAteMakkaPakka · 18/01/2009 19:58

A bundle including a breastpump and acoutrements. Nothing exciting

suwoo · 18/01/2009 20:58

I feel sorry for your buyer now, maybe they can't get breatpumps there . You could parcel the items up seperately?

IAteMakkaPakka · 18/01/2009 21:02

No breast pumps in Italy? I'll see what happens when he gets back to me, he seems totally not bothered actually.

I was thinking it was the Czech Republic. I don't think I would bother buying one from another country if they were freely available in mine. Anyway, if he's not bothered, then just re-list it.
