Buyer hasn't received shoes I sent - what do I do?

I know that if I scroll through all these postings I will find the answer but I'm hoping one of you can help me instead?!

Last month I sold a pair of gorgeous shoes to someone who paid by Paypal cheque and it took ages to come through. When it did, which was just before Christmas, I packed up the shoes and sent them off and got a certificate of posting from the post office. Last week the buyer emailed to say the shoes hadn't arrived and could she be refunded or I should look at my postal insurance (which I don't have).

The sale was only about £18 but I don't know what usually happens in these situations. I've got a feedback of 210 but it's never happened to me before, buying or selling.

Help!

I think that you need to claim from the post office for the lost item, and refund the buyer.

Look on the Royal Mail website. I went through a similar issue during the last postal strike. (The stuff turned up in the end though). I'm sure the website has some blurb which is all about claiming compensation provided that you have a postage receipt. You have to wait a certain amount of time though.

I emailed my buyers to say I would issue a refund if nothing arrived within a certain amount of time, and then I'd take it up myself with RM.

HTH. Will try to find you a linko.

Unfortunately unless you can prove delivery (a proof of posting is no good as that only proves posting) then you have no choice but to refund. Its becoming very common for buyers to claim items have not arrived, as they know that they can so easily get their money back. If you have a proof of posting you should be able to make a claim from royal mail for your money back.

Basically you need to get claim form from po.

Refund buyer after waiting 15 days from posting date. Make sure they check with local po / sorting office first.

You need to include buyers details, name , addy email etc. So you will need to get these from buyer.

Then you need auction page and paypal sale page and send all off with postal receipt.

You will be covered for £18.

bugger bugger bugger

Thank you for your help lovely MNers.

I now can't even find my proof of postage (most probably used as shopping list and now scrunched to a tiny ball in coat pocket) but when it turns up I'll contact PO.

I think that's my lesson learnt and will try better next time.
