Amazon works, I don't think ebay is great for books.

Amazon means no listing fees, no special paypal accounts, very little faff. You don't have to take pictures of the books. You do have to ship them within 2 business days of the order being placed.

I've not sold kids books, more computer books, but amazon is the best place from what I know.

Thanks NQC never used amazon to sell before so that info is really helpful

does anyone know where you can sell job lots of books ... I have boxes and boxes of books .. largely fiction .. some crime, some chick lit etc?

NotQuiteCockney · 04/01/2009 16:29

If you want to sell job lots, you need a bookseller, really. Talk to a secondhand bookstore?

This page talks about fees. They're not tiny, I hadn't realised it was almost 18%. But then that allows for credit card fees etc etc.

Prices on Amazon vary a lot, at least in the stuff I've tried to sell. If you don't have the lowest price, your item won't sell, obviously.

I can't think of any second hand book shops around here .. they are all charity shops. Not that I mind giving book to charity but I have so many it would be good to be able to get some return on them!

NotQuiteCockney · 05/01/2009 08:06

Ah, in London there are quite a few used book shops.

Alternatively, if you can face it, selling them on Amazon will almost certainly earn you something.

Mass market fiction (e.g. chicklit) tends not to have much value, but some crime stuff may. Literary fiction does ok.

Maybe you could look on amazon and sell the stuff that's going for a decent amount, and dump the rest at a charity shop?

have a look on completed listings on ebay. Some of your books may sell well. Some may sell if you bundle them - look for similar bundles.
Older childrens books that parents read themselves as a child often sell well. Blyton does ok in bundles/sets.
pre-school bundles is another that does ok.

Thankyou, you have spurred me into listing on Amazon... before the job slipped off the "to do" list!

wotulookinat · 05/01/2009 09:43

List them in the for sale section here first.
