Last week I sold 4 little finger puppets (for 99p + 75p P&P), went to send them on Friday and discovered that the parrot one had vanished. I decided not to panic - I had 5 day dispatch on the listing - and look for it properly on Saturday. Well it still didn't turn up so I emailed the winning bidder explaining the situation and offering to either refund all of her money and we could cancel the transaction, or I could send the 3 I still have (safely tucked in the envelope now in case she still wants them) and give her a partial refund.

That was Saturday afternoon - and I've heaerd nothing back from her. But since then I've found another of the finger puppets (there used to be 10 of them!) a Reindeer. Obviously there is a chance that she bought them because she wanted the parrot, however i was thinking perhaps I could offer her the reindeer one as a replacement for the lost one

I'm completely flummoxed as to where the parrot one has gone - it was put in a bag, inside a box after I'd photographed them and put well out of the DS's reach - it will no doubt turn up when I move..........but that's by the by - I don't know what to do about this non-replying buyer.........

that's a good point MS - I'm forever telling people on ebay threads when they say "I haven't heard from them for 2/3 days" that not everyone is online everyday

I think I'm just panicking as I've never lost and item/part of an item before (although I have just discovered the wire for the speaker I sold on Saturday at the table top sale on top of the piano - but that's not a problem it was my BF's DH that bought it off me).

I would post the ones you have got with a note explaining the situation, and that you've sent them as you haven't heard back. Tell her if she's not completely happy you will refund her including postage costs, although make her think she will have to return them for the refund so she doesn't just say she's not happy.

hi guy, not everyone checks their emails or ebay account every day. I would just phone her to sort it out before posting or refunding.

To get her phone number, go to Site Map (top right corner of home page) > Find a Member (last column) > Find Contact Information (left column)

Plug in the buyers user ID and your item number. eBay will then send you an email with her contact details and her an email with your contact details. You can take it from there. Good luck.

blueshoes - ring???? ermm I have a phone phobia

I think there's more likelyhood of me getting on the bus/train and going and knocking on her door to ask her than there is of me being brave enough to pick up the phone and ask her............I live in the Midlands - she lives in the Grampians!!!!

ok, get someone else to phone her? It must be quite limiting to have a phone phobia

guyFAwkesreQuiem · 24/11/2008 19:17

I'm ok if it's someone I know (unless I'm ringing to ask them a specific favour) - I can make calls to strangers, but it usually takes days of physching myself up before I manage to do it.

when I got locked out the house the other week I ended up calling a friend - who then rang some locksmiths for me
