Seriously pissed off with Paypal

I sent an item unrecorded as thats what the buyer paid for AND I OFFERED RECORDED INSURED DELIVERED BY SPECIALLY TRAINED GOLD PIGEONS etc etc
They said they didn't receive it so filed a claim. Fair enough.
BUT I sent the bloody thing and am now £9.99 out of pocket and made nothing on the item because Paypal decided in their favour.
WHYYYYYYYYY?????????
How do they make these decisions, surely it should have been 50:50 if the PO is to blame??
Am SO pissed off anyone had any joy disputing a Paypal decision?

not without proof of delivery.

we've had a few now, can't leave them neg feedback even if they're obviously dodgy.

pamplemousse · 14/11/2008 22:28

I have proof of posting will that help Paypal?
Why are they sticking up for the buyer? I pay them extortionate fees for 'seller protection' and all that crap. The buyer is no longer a registered member of ebay! Whereas I have 280+ positive feedback, grrrrrrrr!

you can send them anything you've got but i think they need proof of delivery before they'd take your side

it's a mess i agree we've been done quite a bit lately

theirmum · 14/11/2008 22:33

Paypal always ask for a tracking nmber I now send every single item second class recorded that way I will always win that type of claim - I know its no help for the item lost but going forward always send with a tracking number

pamplemousse · 14/11/2008 22:37

Thats shocking, I can prove I sent it, the other person can't prove they didn't receive it!
Is the only solution to send everything registered? Surely that would put buyers off?

I send every single thing recorded and have done for years. Been selling for 6 years now and never had a problem.

pamplemousse · 14/11/2008 22:42

I have sold since 2001 and not had one until now.
Just have to do that I suppose.
Am not letting this lie though will at least have a go at Paypal.

take photos of all your evidence and sent it to them on the paypal resolution site

guyFAwkesreQuiem · 14/11/2008 22:48

that's a bummer - same happened to me, item hasn't arrived, so I've refunded - lost out on £8 (£5 p&p) sent 1st class, not recorded, so have just chalked it down to bad luck.

sixlostmonkeys · 15/11/2008 07:37

You only have paypal protection if you send recorded.
I seller is responsible for getting the item delivered, not just posted.
Don't give an option for recorded delivery, it is for your protection not theirs, just use it.
The only 'buyers' who will be put off are those who seek out non recorded stuff knowing that they will be able to get a refund.

FourArms · 15/11/2008 07:43

You could still try claiming from the Post Office if you have a cert. of posting.

JerricaBenton · 15/11/2008 18:40

It is the sellers responsibilty to ensure the package arrives. Like sixmonkeys says, recorded is for YOUR benefit, not the buyers so dont offer it as an extra.. What buyer would pay extra for recorded when they are covered by paypal anyway?

pamplemousse · 15/11/2008 20:08

Well put JB
Will try Royal mail but not holding out much hope.
How do guessimate p&p for recorded? I am pretty accurate for normal post. Weigh it and refer to Royal mail site?

OP posts:
JerricaBenton · 15/11/2008 21:46

recorded is always just 70p on top of usual postage

JerricaBenton · 15/11/2008 21:46

royal mail should still refund you though

CarGirl · 15/11/2008 21:48

I only send items recorded too, I state the P&P in my actual listing and then 1st class recorded next to it.

pamplemousse · 15/11/2008 22:31

Thats a great help, thanks people :D
