Quick question...what is ebay etiquette if buyer says item didn't arrive but I have proof of postage?

It was only a DVD for 99p, so don't mind refunding.....I had to send it to a cafe...that was the address (confirmed). I thought it was a bit strange. Anyway, now she say sshe never got it. I have a proof of postage receipt but it wasn't recorded.

What normally happens in this situation?

I have 100% pos feedback so I'm thinking I shoudl just refund her to not risk getting neg feedback, but if it was a larger amount, what normally happens?

Thanks

we had an item that went to dispute, we won as we provided proof the item was delivered.

he still negged us though

My understanding of this is that, if a person pays through paypal, unless the seller can prove proof of delivery ( Not postage), they will refund in any dispute.

I now sell everything to the UK only and always send recorded delivery.

In fact, I have a dispute going on right now, where a buyer specifically asked me to send to Denmark, where she knew I couldn't track an item and now (OH, HOW mysteriously!) it's not arrived... and I know Paypal will refund her because I can't prove it.
But I'll be watching with interest in case I'm wrong...

we've just got another dispute going, dp can't find the proof or tracking number! argh we send so many.

so the buyer will win this dispute and we won't be able to neg him (he has 97%).

£28 down the drain. BEWARE OF ITALIAN BUYERS

Hi GoodDaysAndBadDays - unfortunately proof of posting is not confirmation of delivery and mail does get lost.
Does your receipt have a item code for tracking? Some have tracking numbers yet the recipient doesn't need to sign.
I have frequent bad experiences with Royal Mail. You could try and phone Royal Mail to see if they can help you in any way or check their website to find out if ther service you have used provides you with any insurance - that way you may get your 99p back from them.

It is a difficult situation to be in. Your customer has paid for something they haven't received and you have sent something in good faith that it would arrive. Contact ebay also and ask what happens. Good luck.

Oh hello theseriousone

Thanks. Think I will just refund. Not worth the hassle for 99p!!

serious you should ask about the neg feedback thing. It is odd.

Hello GDABDs >

Nope, it's not possible for sellers to leave neg feedback anymore (or even neutral). SO buyers ar pretty free to do what they want!

GoodDaysAndBadDays · 13/11/2008 20:21

That is crap!!!

I would write on their feedback 'Sorry your purchase got lost in the post, thanks for your patience' or something along those lines - just in case they are making a habit of it, at least there is some sort of warning to other people. Make sure you don't write anything negative as postive though IYSWIM, as ebay will pull the comment and tell you off.
