I am really cross .
We are broke this month so have made 300 pounds on ebay.
All paid via paypal which e bay i find almost forces you to accept now.
Now it says my money is on hold until i have posted the items and received positive feedback or had no buyer complaints for 21 days !
This means i wont get my money for weeks even though i am expected to post the item.
The reason is either 10 because i`ve gone over the 650 limit and need further verification. The only thing left for me to do is a phone call back and it keeps saying it cant !, or because i recently had a buyer complaint for non receipt of item.I refunded the money AND sent the item free of charge ! (my son was ill ) .I am so cross because we are so broke and now not only cant i get my money which we desperatley needed but i have to pay out on p and p and send my item before i have the money !

that is sucky. i've always been able to access my money immediately.

you should always send items out straight away anyway - not wait until money has cleared into your bank.
Once items are sent quickly buyers will be more likely to leave FB and then it will be cleared

fakeblonde · 11/11/2008 12:40

Sorry i dont agree.I have never bought anything anywhere where i dodnt pay for the item until id taken it home !
Surley it is not unreasonable to expect funds to clear before you hand over an item ?

once funds are in your paypal account that's it - done.
I know you have issues at the mo with the funds being on hold, but as far as buyers are concerned they have made an instant payment.

You are not waiting for the fund to 'clear' you are waiting for them to be transferred into your bank, which is different. Once funds are in paypal they are clear. Therefore, you post the item and don't make the buyer wait.

sixlost monkeys I dont think she is waiting for it to clear into her bank - ebay have a new policy now wher they can 'hold' your money and not release it into your paypal account until you receive positive feedback from that customer - I have had to do the same and its scary posting off something valuale knowing you may not get the money for it through in the end.

Yes thats it its on hold.
Dont feel comfortable sending a few hundred pounds worth of stuff out in the hope that i may get paid at some point.

i had this too, you HAVE to send the item as it has nothing to do with the buyer, explain that you need a feeback to rerlease money, and paypal will not release the money straight away either, they took another 5 days!!

threetinytots · 11/11/2008 21:26

fakeblonde, I have just had this too. I have been using my dh's ebay account for years, but recently set up my own account. Paypal put my funds on hold because I hadn't sold on that account before. I was really shocked. Ebay has become a buyers market - sod the sellers! I dd send my items and chased for feedback which they left straight away, however I had to chase Paypal for a week before they released my funds. I think they are really struggling with this new policy and have so many funds on hold it is taking them an age to get through them. I think they will lose a lot of their sellers through it.

threetinytots · 11/11/2008 21:32

You have to send the items as the buyers are completely unaware that their funds are on hold from you. As far as they're concerned they have paid. Its utterly crap that Ebay and Paypal expect you to part with your goods while they hold onto the money. WOnder how much interest they are making on all these held funds??

sarah573 · 11/11/2008 21:42

Luckily I've escaped this one so far (touch wood), but I am aware the paypal are holding funds for transactions which meet certain criteria and sellers which don't.

The buyer has sent you their money, it has left their account - they have paid. Its not their fault paypal are holding it (not yours either I know), but you have to send the goods to them.

Once they have left feedback paypal should release the funds.

I know it sucks - thats paypal for you!! Everything is geared towards the buyer, and stuff the seller. Unfortunately they know they have got you. If you want to sell on ebay (and theres not really any viable alternative), you have to accept paypal, and you have to put up with their poxy rules.
