Can someone come and talk to me about couriers (and packaging mirrors)......

please. I've listed an old mirror of mine (well it was found in an attic about 20yrs ago when I was little and we'd just moved house) - it's a lovely "Through the Looking Glass" one. I've listed it as collection only - because I wouldn't trust Royal Mail to deliver it in once piece, and I don't have a clue how to package is so it doesn't get there in pieces anyhow.

Someone has sent me a question about it asking if I could courier it to them - now in theory I'm happy to do this - BUT I have no idea how to - I've never used a courier (to send stuff) in my life and feel incredibly stupid about it.

Also advice on the best way to package the mirror so it doesn't get smashed en route....

Oh dear..

I bought one from ebay. It was bubble wrapped very well and then in brown packaging but it broke. It came via Royal Mail Parcel-force.

oh dear [worried] - I've replied to say that I'll look into Courier costs (as I don't trust Royal Mail) - do you think it would ok going by courier

I have no idea where to start with couriers

you could go to ebay and use of their couriers. Quite cheap I think.

Bump anyway.

You'll need to check tho as quite a few couriers state they won't carry mirrors.

thanks everyone - I sent it yesterday - most of the reasonable priced couriers I found would carry mirrors, but they wouldn't insure it (ie send at your own risk) - told the buyer this and they were fine to take the risk - so it was collected yesterday - did layers and layers of bubble wrap, then used some corrugated cardboard stuff I found in Wilko's then brown paper to neaten it up.......

Shall let you know next week whether it arrived in one piece

I was going to say get the buyer to arrange courier, and then it is relaly nothing to do with youif it got broken. Have everythign crossed for you, btw I sent a large mirror from aberdeen to london with parcel2go and it made it in one piece.

MrsMagooo · 08/11/2008 12:26

ounds like you've wrapped it well so I reckon it'll be fine

guyFAwkesreQuiem · 08/11/2008 12:29

clueless - that's who I used - parcel2go

So fingers crossed it makes it - tbh I'm more concerned that it stays intact for sentimental reasons than having to refund the buyer.

I was a lovely "Through the Looking Glass" screen printed mirror my parents found in the attic when we moved house 20 odd years ago. I had it up in my room and I loved it then. When I "out grew it" I hung onto it in the hopes that one day I'd have a little girl who would also love to have it in their room........of course I've got 3 DS's and they're not remotely interested in it. So decided to sell so that someone else could get some pleasure out of it.

Would feel terrible if it breaks en route
