I bought an item on ebay, it is not as far as I can see a shop, it appears to be a person, It gave me his name and address which appears to be a chinese name but when I asked a question he answered signed with a different name all together. Its £50 so not pennies and they dont take paypal,

it gave me the chinese name when I asked for an address for payment to be sent that should say and the other name when I asked a postage question.

i thought all sellers had to take paypal now? whats their feedback like?

monkeymonkeymonkey · 26/10/2008 20:34

Sounds potentially dubious. Do they have good feedback?

nolongeraworriedmummy · 26/10/2008 20:42

Its quite high but there appear to be a few saying product wasnt as described and also several that appear to be exactly the same feedback but with different buyers names.

it shows he has paypal but he asked for a postal order after the end of the sale as he says he is having problems with paypal account.

sounds abit iffy to me. you can check if postal orders have been cashed but you dont have the insurance you get with paypal. is the person too far for you to pick up the item?

nolongeraworriedmummy · 26/10/2008 21:14

yeah they live surrey I think and I am north. I havent sent payment yet as I was a bit worried.

He HAS to take paypal - you will have no comeback if there is a problem.

Tell him you are happy to wait until he has 'sorted' out his account? And don't hold your breath!

sarah573 · 27/10/2008 07:16

Yes I would be worried, simply because if there is a problem you don't have any protection from paypal. He is probably telling the truth about having problems with his paypal account (I know from experience they can be an absolute nightmare!), however he HAS to offer paypal as a payment option, and you are not obliged to pay by any other method. I would NOT send him by PO.

twocutedarlings · 27/10/2008 08:09

agree with the other! as it says on the listing that he will accept Paypal, he has no choice but to accept it!!

what was the item? was it anything electrial or teccy ??

Hi If you find out whereabouts in surrey say can you collect (I am in Surrey and would collect it for you if you like) If he says yes and gives you an address I wouldnt be worried if he makes an excuse and says no I wouldnt touch it.

MrsMagooo · 27/10/2008 16:41

I wouldn't send a P.O tbh as it does sound a little dodgy - especially as all sellers now have to accept payment via PP.

I would say to him you're happy to wait for his PP issues to be resolved & see what he says.
