Have had a message saying the buyer is unhappy with an item and she will be dropping it to my house on friday but wants a cash refund. can I do this or does it have to be via paypal? I don't mind giving her a cash refund but will I be able to get my fees back if I do this?

Lol cargirl you do know too much about pushchairs! How crap Sparkly it seems to be happening to us all at the minute although my buyer kept hers in the end! glad you sorted the paypal thing worse comes to the worse and you did give her cash all you would need to do is a written document stating you have refunded in cash and getting her to sign it but i suppose even then she could say it wasnt her signiture I agree with eveyone best to stick to paypal. Did she say why she wanted the refund in cash seems a tad odd

There's nothing wrong with the brakes!!! In the UK for a pushchair to get the current BS7409 1996 standard the rear brakes on a pushchair (wheeled conveyance to be precise) need to be linked and work in unison not independently.

I have an originally phil & teds (prior to E3) and it has 2 rear brakes (one on each wheel) and they work independently, for this reason it could never be retailed in this country hence they are quite rare as they must have all been imported.

I think you could argue that linked back brakes are slightly safer than independent ones because if you only but one rear brake on then it could potentially swing around if parked on a slope or something, and for example, swing off the edge of a pavement or something.

I just don't understand how a pushchair could be stickered with a BS7409 1996 and not have linked back brakes because that is contray to the the BS 7409 regulations! Hope that makes sense...............

NCT sales should not sell pushchairs that do not comply fully to BS7409 and our branch once had a call from trading standards posing as a Grandad to ensure we were complying.......it doesn't apply to private sales though.

The rest of the world doesn't make a big deal out of having linked back brakes or having a 3rd safety catch for folding mechanisms either. I can only think there were some nasty accidents in the 90's that brought about the introduction of BS7409 1996.

Think that is why our pushchairs have quite a low weght limit because that is all they were tested up to?

CarGirl · 20/08/2008 09:50

Yes I have kiwi, will probably sell it on soon as don't really need it anymore. The front seat is huge so it's a good SN double because the front seat stays the same and the sling zips on the back IYSWIM. You should have bought it they are fab!!!!

Wasn't MB originally from Australia/NZ where they don't need to comply the BS 7409 but now they do for international exporting.

SparklyGothKat · 20/08/2008 10:20
