Is it common for bidders who have lost out to contact the winning bidder?
Here's my story:
I've recently purchased a rare one of a kind vintage item of clothing from Canada after scouring the internet for months. This item was listed back in April at $80, I fell in love with it but didn't buy it straight away since I've never had experience with buying from abroad before. I've kept it on my favourites list since then but after weeks of not being able to find anything similar in the UK I decided that enough was enough and purchased it last week although I didn't pay immediately as I was on a public computer. Paid for it once I got home. Pleasantly surprised to find that it had reduced to $40 so paid $55 including delivery. One day later I received a shipping and order confirmation e-mail. Oh good, can't wait.
Later that day, seller e-mails to say that another buyer has requested my contactdetails as she wants to buy it off me. I reply thanks but no thanks. Seller replies absolutely fine.
A week later, item arrives and I totally fall in love with it, fits like a dream. I leave positive feedback for seller. Feedback is shown in seller's profile. So this morning I receive 4 messages from persistent "other buyer" offering to buy dress from me. In the most recent one, she has told a sob story about how she has spent ages trawling the internet for a dress like mine and that she cried over not being able to buy the dress. Apparently the seller had reduced the item especially for her and that she had kept it listed as a mistake. Seller only contacted me about her wanting to buy the item the day it was shipped! Basically she's telling me that I swiped it from under her nose. She's offered to buy it at the original price or swap it for the one that she ended up buying. As if!
At first I empathised with her as I would have kicked myself if I hadn't bought it sooner but I don't think that anyone deserves this dress less than she does and it does not belong to anyone until they've paid for it. I think I'll just ignore it for now but if I receive more messages like this, is it worth reporting?
