What feedback should I give?

Won auction on Monday 2nd.
Emailed seller on Friday 6th asking if/when she'd post.
She replied same day saying she'd already posted the day before (Thursday 5th).
I assumed item would arrived the fri or sat as postage costs were for 1st class recorded.
Item arrived today. She's posted it the 7th, not the 5th and it's normal 2nd class post.

I am slighty miffed that she lied about when she posted - I waited in specially for and sat for delivery - and that she posted 2nd instead of 1st class recorded.

Am I entitled to giver her neutral/negative or what?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think you can give negative or neutral feedback any more

Wuxiapian · 10/06/2008 16:36

I'm the buyer, so I think I can.

Isn't it sellers who can't leave neutral/neg?

I would email her first and complain you paid for 1st class recorded and she sent it 2nd class

charliecat · 10/06/2008 16:38

You got it 8 days?
Unless she said she posted things that day/the next YABU a little. Sometimes life gets in the way of Ebay(!I run a business on ebay)
I would ask her why you paid for 1st class recorded and she posted it end class normal.
But I wouldnt neg or neutral her.
You have got the item, and you are happy with it?
Its not really her fault you wanted it super speedy, and you could have emailed asking her to pop it in the post quickly as you needed it.

Fanella · 10/06/2008 16:38

Buyers can give neg feedback, sellers can't.

What is her other feedback like? Does it seem to be something she does a lot?

TheBlonde · 10/06/2008 16:39

I would neg her unless she refunds you the difference in p&p!

Fanella · 10/06/2008 16:40

paying for 1st class recorded and getting it second class normal mail is a bit cheeky though - unless you think the packaging justifies the costs you paid for p&p..

fryalot · 10/06/2008 16:41

oh right, I just left feedback for something I bought (twas positive, no problems) but a big screen came up and said I wasn't allowed to leave negative or neutral feedback.

Must have read it wrong - I only took vague notice as I was leaving positive feedback anyway.

Sorry for duff info

in that case, email her and tell her you are unhappy and ask her what she suggests to make you happy again. Dependent upon the result of that, leave her negative feedback.

charliecat · 10/06/2008 16:42

Hold on, arent Negs for ripped me off, didnt send item, didnt get refund? Really, she had the goods and she has posted them...and hopefully they are as described. So neggin is HARSH. I think.

TheBlonde · 10/06/2008 16:44

well she lied about when she posted it

Wuxiapian · 10/06/2008 16:44

No.

I understand people have busy lives, but I simply asked her when she'd be postin so I knew when to expect it.

She lied saying she posted it on the 5th, but stamp date is 7th so that's when she actually posted it.

I waited in the following couple mornings to take parcel as nobody else wouldv'e been home. So, I waited in for a parcel that hadn't even been posted.

I wasn't in any desperate hurry and would've had no problem if it had took her a week to get to the PO, I just don't like being lied to.

And charging me for 1st class recorded and sending normal 2nd class, I think, is a downright cheeky!

Ok she lied..maybe she thought she HAD posted it. (thinking of times ive found things in the footwell and my bloody has run cold)
The p and p charge, I think is the issue, really. And sometimes mails takes days even when it has been posted, RM wont look into a lost item for 15 days.

MrsWeasley · 10/06/2008 16:48

Ask her for a refund of postage then leave a neutral feedback or a positive if she refunds P&P
The feedback can be a simple "item received"

Piffle · 10/06/2008 16:52

I recall when I sent dp to post things for me and he sent 2nd instead of 1st recorded.
I emailed everyone, apologised and offered refunds - no one wanted one but thanked me for honesty and left great feedback.
I always email about delays too.
ok to email her and state the facts. Worth a neutral imo sellers are accountable now

Wuxiapian · 10/06/2008 17:12

I'm really peed off and thinking of just asking for a refund as the item ain't even in the "good condition" as she'd described.

So, shall I contact her telling her I'm not happy and ask if she'd be prepared to refund inc return postage?

If she does, how can I be certain that she'll refund once I've returned them?

Thanks again.

contact her and express your concerns, including the fact that it is not as described. Inform her you wish to return the item and receive a full refund.
You can't force her to refund the return postage, but maybe keeping all communication professional and civil may prompt her into being a good seller and refund the return P.

You must return the item recorded and hang onto the tracking number.
If she doesn't agree to a refund start an item not as described dispute with paypal, who will then require you to return it (trackable) and you will get a refund (but not return P)

Wuxiapian · 10/06/2008 21:51

Oh. That's an arse.

So, really, I might be better off keeping the item instead of losing out to send it back?

Grrr.
