i mean, would it help him to know? why would he ask - why wouldn't he just bid up in small increments?

dont tell him, he must bid in until he gets to it. He probably wants to then offer you the reserve price or just above so that you remove the item and sell it privately.

southeastastra · 04/06/2008 19:27

just tell him, is it £50

TheBlonde · 04/06/2008 19:27

don't tell

Flibbertyjibbet · 04/06/2008 19:29

You might as well tell him, he probably wants to see what the reserve price is because if its more than he wants to pay , then he won't bother bidding.

When DP put his old knackered landrover on, we were quite happy to tell people what the reserve was. Why not? Its not like its top secret info.

Personally I don't bid on anything that has a reserve on it. Things usually go for more when they start off low - its the bargain hunting mentality of ebay buyers.

Only tell him once, obviously!

southeastastra · 04/06/2008 19:29

it goes up in fifties doesn't it?

scottishmummy · 04/06/2008 19:30

if your reserve is what you will accept - tell him. he likely wont bid higher than reserve.but disclosing reserve can secure a quick sale

i disclose reserve, because i want quick sale and will accept the amount

but if you want auction to run and hope for more than reserve dont tell

so deal is up to you!

either chance letting it run
or disclose for nearly guaranteed sale

Tutter · 04/06/2008 19:31

in which case i may tell him

lots of watchers, so it may bid up further

only an hour left though and they are nowhere near reserve

OP posts:
WingsofaAngel · 04/06/2008 19:31

If he's really interested then he will bid anyway.
Don't tell him what the reserve is IMI

Tutter · 04/06/2008 19:32

only problem is i can't remember what the reserve is

how do i find out?

OP posts:
Tutter · 04/06/2008 19:33

doh - i can see it now

OP posts:
forevercleaning · 04/06/2008 19:36

if you have only an hour to go, definately dont tell him. espesh as lots of watchers, they will probaly all come flying in in the last 15 mins or so.

Tutter · 04/06/2008 19:38

actually it wouldn't let me send a messgae anyway - too close to the end of the auction

OP posts:
forevercleaning · 04/06/2008 19:45

you must come back to this thread after the acution to tell us if you made a load more than the reserve. hope so

KnickersOnMaHead · 05/06/2008 07:18

Message withdrawn

Tutter · 05/06/2008 07:23
