Vinted - low price and low views. When would you remove and donate?

I have had a few items up for a week for under £5. Most are nearer £2. How long before donating them? If the don't have views I'm confident it's not going to sell. But tempted to try a wardrobe spotlight before I give up? Is it worth it? I I have very few high value items like a Lipsey playsuit new with tags and a New with tags White company dress. The rest I'm happy to donate now

I give mine about 3 weeks, then donate it all, I don't have enough time, mindspace oe money to give it any longer tbh

Just going to rattle off a few suggestions - i know some of them are so obvious so apologies.

  • photos in natural daylight against a plainish background
  • photo with it on with head cropped out, if you have any nice photos of it on.
  • multiple photos, back, front, label, detail.
  • tried relisting on a Sunday afternoon
  • making sure its ironed and de-fluffed
  • if its new with tags, try and get the tag visible in the first picture of it
These all help me! I normally relist 3 times with different photos before giving up if its a £5 + item You might have already done this so apologies if you have! I have noticed it has been a bit slow this last month, if its cheap summer stuff I'd probably just donate it.

I realist everything with new photos if it doesn’t sell in six weeks. If it still doesn’t sell, I either try to sell as a bundle, or donate. If it’s higher value then I might decrease the price.

UpToonGirl · 11/10/2025 11:56

Have you turned on combined postage?

Breli · 11/10/2025 11:58

I wouldn’t bother with anything under £5, it’s not worth your time or the space. I’d just donate.

MidnightMeltdown · 11/10/2025 12:10

I don’t know about Vinted, but on eBay I just leave them on. Everything sells eventually. Sometimes things suddenly sell after 2 years, and then I have to go in the loft and remember where I put them!

Having said that, I never list anything under a tenner as it’s not worth the time, effort and storage space to me. The cheaper stuff just goes in a bag for the charity shop.

ChocolateBoxCottage · 11/10/2025 12:36

That's the thing. It's all taking up room. I think I'm going to do one last push to list everything this week then donate it all. If I put a £2 item on, no one ever bundles up any more. I do big clear outs of the kids clothes seasonal so I'm clearing out Christmas stuff right now and Halloween. Ideally I want to donate it while it's still in season.

Good brand names and items being new with tags don't seem to count for much on Vinted. You'll still get Beggys offering you 50p for everything.

I donate all but the items I know I can get +£10 for. Anything under is just not worth the time or effort of listing, packaging and going to the drop off point for tbh.

ChocolateBoxCottage · 11/10/2025 12:57

I'm wondering if I should put the new with tags things on Ebay? Start a low bid price if I'm just going to donate it anyway eventually

The new with tags things, are they seasonally the sort of things people would go for now? I’ve got a lovely silk top that no one is going for, but I’m going to leave it another week then take off and relist once half term is past and people start looking for party tops.

I’ve just sold a few things, but there’s a few children’s summer dresses that no one has bought and realistic no one is going to search for this time of year. I’m going to take them off and give to the charity shop.

It depends on your own financial situation. None of us really know how important the odd £2 here and there is for you.

Can you try and list them up as a job lot? The buyer gets a bargain and you get rid of the lot in one transaction. Generally individual items worth sub £5 are hard to sell because the postage cost adds so much relative to the item price.

Make sure your photos and descriptions are perfect. Non blurred photos in good lighting from all angles and describe the condition clearly. There are loads of items on vinted. When I am buying if the photos are not showing the whole thing or description vague I will buy from somebody else.

Ebay is not your solution at this price point. If something is described well with good photos it will sell on vinted if the price is right..

One of my gripes about Vinted is why do people photograph clothes on the floor? Drives me mad. Doesn’t exactly encourage me to make an offer; people walk on floors in shoes and then there’s the pet hair!! Hang the clothes up and make them look appealing

Overwhelmedwiththings · 29/10/2025 08:07

The stuff I don’t sell on Vinted I take to H&M and get the £5 recycling voucher for 5 items. I’m not a big H&M fan but I’ve used up all my vouchers (£5 off £25 spend) so far on basics for my wardrobe.

Measurements such as trouser, dress lengths are useful. I'm shortish and always have to pm seller. Most don't bother to reply 🤷‍♀️
