Won a dress on ebay, seller 97% feedback but I always give benefit of doubt, anyway it arrived this morning. It had been described as BNWT from New Look, anyway the labels said Urban Behaviour, even the price tag which would surely say New Look (may be wrong), - bought it as it was from N.L and their sizes always fit me well - and also one of the spaghetti straps was broken and had been tied up. Emailed the seller saying I didn't like to leave neg feedback so wanted to sort it out, detailed these and suggested she refunded. Anyway got an extremely stroppy mail back saying she found my tone offensive, she DID buy it from NL and she hadn't seen the fault, and that I should be more trusting of the ebay community and not go offending people - wtf? I have 100% feedback and have literally never had a problem, hence why I was trying to sort it out and not just leave neg feedback. But seems I can't get it right!!!! AIBU and WWYD?

YANBU. But, you have the advantage. Sellers can no longer leave negative feedback for buyers so she can't scare you with that.

I would take photos of the details you have mentioned and send a very calm e-mail to her. Tell her that you wish to send it back and you expect her to refund all postage and the cost of the item.

If she is stroppy again contact eBay. keep all her e-mails. You may have to write it off as a loss though. But you can always leave her a negative.

Does she have a refund policy?
If she hadn't seen the fault, she shouldn't mind giving you a refund.

She has now said she will refund so that's good, but still bit cross about the response....ahhh well that's life I guess

thanks for advice

ah, think it's a bit like your kids. What they do not what they say matters. As long as they actually do what you want, they can whinge about it as much as they like.
