Potential buyer wants me to drop off a local pick up only item - WWYD?

I have some glass bowls for sale. Because they are heavy and fragile, they're on as pick-up only. A potential buyer has emailed to say that they're not local but will be relatively nearby at the weekend and would I consider meeting them near the M25. This is at least a half hour drive from where we are. I have no idea what to say. The bowls probably aren't going to go for a huge amount - they're on at £3.50 and won't go for more than £15 at the most because someone could buy their own from Ikea for that! On the other hand, I'm not going to get that much interest in them. I'm tempted to say I'll do it for a fiver, but tbh I really can't be arsed.

WWYD?

unless i was skintola in the extreem - i would charity shop 'em and say fuck it its not worth the trouble

Get them to come nearer, not to your house but to a cafe or whatever. If they're travelling anyway they can come a bit nearer to you.

Some people charge 40p a mile for delivery to a pre-arranged place!

NickiSue · 27/05/2008 16:07

Or you could say you wont have a car et at the weekend but they are welcome to travel the extra half-hour

4andnotout · 27/05/2008 16:07

I agree with Custardo, i recently sold a pram as pick up only but it was bought by someone who lives the other end of the country so in order to get some cash i have had to wait in for couriers and the like Puts me off ebay now tbh.

expatinscotland · 27/05/2008 16:07

Pick up only is just that.

You're not running a delivery service unless they are willing to pay for it.

Cammelia · 27/05/2008 16:07

Only if you charged petrol money.

belgo · 27/05/2008 16:09

I wouldn't do it. To much hassle - it would take a chunk of your weekend away.

cheesesarnie · 27/05/2008 16:09

i think NickiSues idea is good.

savoycabbage · 27/05/2008 16:14

I would just say no, it is too much hassle. They will get over it and you don't want to be doing all of that for a fiver.

Cheers ladies

NickiSue it's probably not very far in miles, but being London suburbs will take bloody ages.

Custardo I charidee shop/Freecycle a lot of stuff (including a huge pile this weekend) but tbh I don't think a charity shop would want these (there are loads of them and they're heavy) plus at six months' PG I can't be arsed to carry them!

4andnotout - I had the same thing with a moses basket but I refused to post it out and gave it to next highest bidder.

I put on all my collection only items now if you can't collect DO NOT BID

NickiSue · 28/05/2008 12:04

Oooh - youre right RW, too much of a pain! Collect or move on it is!
