Received text from Evri- scam?

TheGander · 11/03/2025 14:22

I posted an item at the Pist Office to my buyer today using evri. Just got a text purporting to be from evri saying “ your package cannot be delivered due to missing or damaged delivery information “. It then invites me to click on a link to update. Should I be suspicious? Thanks for any advice/ insights. First time Evri user, I usually go with Royal Mail.

How do Evri know your phone number?

MamaBobo · 11/03/2025 14:31

It’s might well be a scam….you are right to be cautious. Don’t click the link. Usually scams link to a site that looks like the legitimate version but instead of (for example) www.evri.com (which is Evri’s actual website) it will be something like evriparcel or evriinfo.

The link below takes you to Evri’s own website where they explain how to tell if a message purporting to be from them is genuine.Evri Scam Check

Is this Evri Text/Email Genuine? | FAQs | Evri

Unsure if a message is really from Evri? We explain how to spot a scam message.

https://www.evri.com/faqs/receiving-a-parcel/is-this-evri-text-email-genuine

SilenceInside · 11/03/2025 14:31

How did you generate the label for the parcel? Did you print it at home or did the post office print it out for you?

Either way, you should have a tracking number generated. I would go to the Evri website and use the tracking number to check the status of your parcel. Rather than clicking on a link in a text.

BobbyBiscuits · 11/03/2025 14:34

Do not click on the link. I had something like that when I hadn't sent a parcel.

Chuchoter · 11/03/2025 14:36

How will Evri contact you?
We will contact you by email or text message to advise your parcel is in our network. At times this will include a tracking link that takes you directly to our website Evri.com. On occasion, we may also contact customers via email or text in relation to an ongoing claim.
Emails will typically be from the following addresses:
• @evri.com
• @hermes-europe.co.uk
• @myhermes.co.uk.
SMS messages will only come from 'Evri' and not a mobile phone number.

Gundogday · 11/03/2025 14:36

I’ve just had the same text. I admit I clicked on the text but no further.

Hooe I’ve done no damage by doing that.

Chuchoter · 11/03/2025 14:37

• @evri.com
• @hermes-europe.co.uk
• @myhermes.co.uk
• @custhelp.com
• @globalco.uk
• @globaleco.app
• Also sub-domains of the above. This is where the email address ends in the above domains. For example, @international.evri.com or @mailgb.custhelp.com

They are legitimate.

Chuchoter · 11/03/2025 14:37

Our text messages:
• Will NEVER ask you to reschedule a delivery or ask for payment to do so. We attempt all deliveries up to 3 times.
• Will NEVER prompt you to install any apps.
• Will only ever send a tracking link (no other links). This will be to our tracking page at Evri.com. If you are unsure, do not click the link. You can track your Evri parcelsls*_directly here.
• Will require you to respond 'yes' via SMS or use the response buttons to confirm the status of your parcel when making a claim. The mobile number will ALWAYS be from 'Evri'.

Chuchoter · 11/03/2025 14:37

What is phishing?
Phishing is when criminals use scam emails, text messages, social media sites, messaging apps (e.g. WhatsApp) or phone calls to trick victims. The aim is often to make consumers visit a website, which downloads a virus onto a device or steal bank details or other personal information. They will often pretend to be someone, or an organisation, you trust. These tactics can be very convincing and often use genuine-looking branding and messaging.

Chuchoter · 11/03/2025 14:38

How to spot scam messages or calls
These attacks will often be unusual in some way or be unexpected. If you have any doubts about a message or call, don’t respond. Instead, contact the person or organisation directly. Don’t use the numbers or addresses in the message – use details you already have on an organisation’s official website. The National Cyber Security Centre has issued specific guidance on how to spot and what to do if you have clicked on a fake “missed parcel” message. Scam messages may include the following:

Poor language
Look out for poorly written sentences with spelling and grammatical errors

Lack of a personal greeting
They may use 'Dear Customer' or ‘Dear [your email address]’ instead of using the name you use on your account (though criminals are getting better at personalising messages)

Link or button
They may include links or buttons in emails that urge you to click on them. Before you click on any links, hover over the button or URL to check it goes where it's supposed to. If it brings up an unrecognised address, it could be a scam

An unusual or vague email address
The email address will often be different from the usual email address you receive from that company, even just using a slight misspelling or different formatting.

Examples of a scam message
Example 1: Email
Poor language – ‘Delivery Informed,’ ‘is missed delivery,’ and ‘wanting to tracking the shipment’ are all examples of poorly written sentences.
Lack of personal greeting – There is no name or personal information to identify the recipient of this message.
Links or buttons – This message encourages the recipient to click a link to enter personal information. If you need to change your personal details, simply visit our website evri.comom and log into your account to update these under My Accountnt.
Unusual email address – The email address includes a random series of numbers and from ‘@datapacket.co’ which doesn’t match our standard email address formats.

Example 2: Text
Poor language – “in the process of transportation”, “can-not” and “qqq” are not standard grammar.
Links or buttons – Our text messages will only send a tracking link to our evri.comom*_ website.
Act quickly – The message encourages the recipient to act quickly, which can mean it is not checked carefully.
“Please reply Y” – This is being used by scammers to get the recipient to “accept” the sender as genuine so the link can be opened directly. This disables protection added by the mobile phone provider. Evri is a verified sender, so our text messages will never be marked as potential spam by your mobile phone provider.

Thanks so much. The email address it comes from is Fionasatterfieldiwy@outlook. then 2 more letters which I won’t add in case anyone mistakenly clicks it - I see a link has been created. Very bizarre. Ive
just been to the evri site and they say they have my parcel and will be collecting shortly. I am going to ignore that text and block.

OP posts:
TheGander · 11/03/2025 14:44

Just seen your post @Chuchoter , I’ll report the text to evri now.

ohtowinthelottery · 11/03/2025 14:45

I had a scam message from Evri yesterday saying they couldn't deliver my parcel.
The email in the link was Evri_gb.
A quick Google shows it's a scam, apart from the fact that I'm not expecting a parcel and I was at home all day and know the Evri delivery person would have left a parcel around the back if we weren't here.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 11/03/2025 14:46

It's a scam and I suspect there's a leak at Evri, because I only EVER get this text when I'm due a parcel from them. I get plenty of parcels from other places and don't get this text. I nearly fell for it myself the first time, and got all the way through the 'rebook delivery' until it asked me for 79p (I think) for redelivery and wanted my bank details. At that point I thought - hang on, they just come back the next time they're passing and deliver... and twigged this was a scam.

TheGander · 11/03/2025 14:48

A leak would make sense as I’ve never had this before and it’s the first time I’ve used Evri. Not tempted to use again.

TheGander · 29/03/2025 09:57

Just updating in case anyone gets similar. I decided it was a scam, reported to Evri and blocked. Needless to say didn’t click on their link. The parcel arrived fine and the buyer left a good review 😊

OP posts:
LIZS · 29/03/2025 09:58

Had text yesterday and just deleted it.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 29/03/2025 09:59

I'm expecting a parcel from Evri any day now so I'm braced for the scam text to arrive - probably late evening when I'm distracted.

TheGander · 30/03/2025 16:52

Just ignore any text and wait for your parcel to arrive 😊

OP posts:
TheeNotoriousPIG · 30/03/2025 17:22

It's a scam. Further down the link, it asks for your bank details so that your delivery information can be corrected. They then have your bank details, which they can use to buy anything that they want... and then you get spammed with other scammers afterwards.

Please just delete it!

jaketeckel · 30/03/2025 18:11

It’s a scam

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 30/03/2025 19:36

I've had this.
Look at the email address it came from, it's obviously a scam.

For future reference there will be a link on the Vinted and Ebay websites to check the postage status of each of your sales or purchases. No need to ever click on a link within a text or email.
