What is a buyers fee? I didn't ask for that on my listings

What is this? Just been added to my listing, what is it for? I'm a long term seller with 100% feedback. It's put my price up which could put people off...
I thought eBay protected the buyer? Do they get that money back once its delivered? I didn't get any emails telling me about this

It's this. Not been a popular move.

Thanks. That's nuts. So buyer pays more but they don't get that fee back?
I also 'mainly' do eBay for getting quick funds... this is ridiculous :(
I can understand with a new seller, but they obviously don't trust longtimers with a good reputation :(

Also, it states in my listings that I send all items trackable... which I can prove

They need to replace the revenue stream they lost when they removed private sellers fees. Someone has to pay for the platform to make money so it was only a matter of time. I wonder if there will be a shift to eBid?

The Vinted model has been proven to work (for Vinted!) so they are just copying them.

It's to stop people who are selling lots of items (basically as a business but without registering as one) from profiting more than the business accounts are.

Take a look at just how may people are 'selling' brand new, handmade, homemade, candles and are registered as sole traders - if they price at the same price as a business, under the old system, they were 'taking home' more money per sale.

Thanks for replies. Can anyone clarify.. once sale is all completed and item has arrived, is it ME who has to pay back the buyers fees? Do eBay then charge me?

I feel like I'm going to have to amend all my listings now and slightly lower them so as to not put people off with the higher price :(

Doesn't ebay take it off automatically?

No one pays back the buyers fee. The buyer has it added on to the price they pay and then that’s done with.

I do understand that they need to replace the revenue stream from fees and if selling, I’m okay with waiting a couple of days for payment if I receive more from the sale. I always send tracked anyway. However I agree that the buyer protection fee is frustrating for sellers with 100% feedback. It depends what is being sold - protection is perhaps valid for secondhand items like clothing - I have had a few disappointments there. However, if I buy a new item from a seller with 100% feedback, particularly if I have bought from them before, I do not feel I need protection!

Is this why when I put a bid on today & then looked at the bid history, there were 2 different prices? The bid history showed a 99p starting bid, the main listing some higher price. It's really confusing for the buyer.
