How long to wait for payment

I listed a bundle of clothes that finshed last Tuesday and I still haven't recieved any payment or had any contact with the winner. How long do you think it is fair to wait before I relist?

after 7 days you can report them as non paying

longer than that!

You need to contact them first, there could be a number of reasons why they have not made contact.

I went into labour early after I had placed a bid for an item I really wanted. It the day I went into hosp at short notice and by the time I came back it had been relisted, and I got neg feedback (dont think this can happen now?).

Anyway I usually give it two weeks at least, with at least one attempt to make contact with buyer.

But even after 7 days and reporting them as non-paying they dont allow you (or suggest) relisting. This is usually the outcome once a dispute is opened, you have emailed, waitedfor a response and not got one after 10 days. Its a long winded process, but you get a credit back.

I have sent the an email yesterday morning asking what they want to do but haven't heard anything yet, but will give them a few more days.

I would send them a final payment reminder asking them to pay in the next 24hours or you will start the non paying bidder process.

Smellypits in your case if you had explained afterwards to the seller they may have agreed to remove the feedback. Or you can leave a comment to explain what happened. Unfortunatley there are lots of people out there who bid and then don't pay(and come up with the weirdest excuses)Leaving negative feedback for them is one of the ways sellers can protect themselves and others.

How were they paying? If by paypal, have you actually been into your paypal account rather than just checking your ebay in case the payment is "pending" or sometimes you have to manually accept it (dont ask me why, I have no idea).

Did you email them directly or use the ebay message service? My ebay linked email address has a tiny inbox and with all the rubbish that ebay send me, I often dont receive mails. I also forget to check it for weeks because I dont use it for anything other than ebay. If you send your message through the site the buyer has no excuse.

Sorry probably really obvious questions!

send inoice when item ends. Send reminder (via ebay) on day 3/4, send another reminder on day 6/7, file non payment dispute on day 8. Wait and see if they respond/pay - if they don't wait til dispute runs out, claim your fees back and relist.
Don't wait too long, there is a time limit.
