it comes with a car seat that i don't really need. i was going to ask if they would reduce it if i didn't have the car seat. how much do you think is a reasonable discount?

think maybe you should have asked before you bid...some sellers can get really arsey if you start haggling after the item has been won...

misdee · 23/04/2008 21:35

you should have asked before you bid.

really annoys me when ebayers do this as you still have to pay final value fee, that doesnt get reduced.

nappyaddict · 23/04/2008 21:37

no i did ask and she said it would be fine to have it without the car seat but we didnt agree on an amount so was wondering how much i should suggest.

nappyaddict · 23/04/2008 22:10

Sounds like she is just thinking that you don't want the carseat but will pay what you bid iyswim.

misdee · 23/04/2008 22:12

same as nutcracker.

CrackerOfNuts · 23/04/2008 22:14

A bit like when I won a midsleeper bed for Ds, but I didn't want the matress that was being sold with it. I just bid up to what I was happy to pay for the bed alone.

itsahardknocklife · 23/04/2008 22:23

yep, I agree. You will probably have to pay the full amount. The next highest bid may well have been about £41 so if you are wanting to pay less than that she may as well offer to the next highest bidder.

nappyaddict · 23/04/2008 22:33

hmmm i think i will have to email her and explain the misunderstanding

OP posts:
itsahardknocklife · 23/04/2008 22:35

Why not just take the lot and sell the car seat on?

nappyaddict · 23/04/2008 22:36

cos will have to pay twice for the courier cos it will have to come as 2 seperate parcels i think. also our local paper won't accept any listings for second hand car seats so don't know where i'd sell it.

itsahardknocklife · 23/04/2008 22:37

I gave one away though the 'for sale' board in my local supermarket, so I am sure you could sell one there.

nappyaddict · 23/04/2008 22:39

i could try i suppose but the ads in both our local newsagent and supermarket never seem to change, implying not many things actually get sold!

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 23/04/2008 22:40

do you have to pay to put an ad in the newsagent/supermarket?

OP posts:
itsahardknocklife · 23/04/2008 22:40

Not usually in the supermarket, but the newsagents are like 50p a week.

nappyaddict · 23/04/2008 22:41

oh that's ok. thanks!! hadn't even though of that!

OP posts:
FAWKEOFF · 23/04/2008 22:46

you could go to the local ant natal clinic...or baby groups and put up an ad there

pinkyp · 23/04/2008 22:58

or sell it on ebay! lol

nappyaddict · 23/04/2008 22:59

i would imagine all the babies would already have car seats at baby groups?

too lazy to ebay!

OP posts:
FAWKEOFF · 23/04/2008 23:01

well there is always someone who needs an upgrade in my opinion...what about your GPs

nappyaddict · 23/04/2008 23:03

i dunno if the antenatal group or doctors surgery would be allowed to advertise a second hand seat cos it's not meant to be safe is it?

OP posts:
FAWKEOFF · 23/04/2008 23:10

but thats to the buyers discression isnt it....if that was the case then surely ebay shouldn't allow it

nappyaddict · 23/04/2008 23:29

will try the supermarket first anyway then try elsewhere if i need to. thanks.
