Blocked buyer on Vinted

Listed an item on Vinted for £5. Lots of "favourites". Less than a day later got an offer of £3. Declined and counter offered £4. Then got an offer of £3.60 from the same buyer. I declined and blocked them. If they are going to be a pita over 40p I cannot be arsed. I know this isn't AIBU but AIBU?

I buy and sell lots on Vinted and this is the first person I've blocked.

Some people get a bit ridiculous with their haggling. I could understand if it was something more expensive, but not a fiver.

ByBrightSloth · 09/06/2024 12:17

I had something similar but in reverse over 40p. person listed item, with extra delivery cost. I bought it, but the delivery was 40p extra. They weren’t sure they wanted to go ahead and were going to relist it to reflect the 40p difference. lol

I had someone message me to ask if I'd accept £30 for an item I had listed for £65. I told her not to be ridiculous and blocked her. No way am I dealing with someone that cheeky!

OooohAhhhh · 09/06/2024 12:24

It annoys the hell out of me.
I listed something other day for £5.50, got an offer for £4.40 I declined and counter offered £5, they declined my offer.
Someone bought a bundle with 10% off, they then asked for another 0.50p off.
People expect things for a pittance on vinted.
I know it's only 0.50p here & there but as a seller those add up.
I was selling a new with tags coat for £30 and tags were £65, no one wanted to pay the £30 and always offered me £25 which I declined, it's cheap as it is ffs.
If they don't like my already discounted price then they can go and pay full wack for it in the shop at RRP price.
I've started clamping down on it because I've had enough.

YANBU, I always just ignore people who make offers. Either you want it or you don’t. Stuff on Vinted is always cheap as chips already (except for the stuff I want to buy 🤣 looking at you Doc Martens!)

TheGriffle · 09/06/2024 12:27

Ooh you guys would love me then, I never haggle! Never occurred to me to haggle, I just pay whatever price it’s up for. 🤦‍♀️

GinForBreakfast · 09/06/2024 12:31

I really don't mind a bit of haggling but if the seller declines my offer and gives me a new price I either accept it or walk away.

I pretty much price to sell, I'm having a major declutter at the moment but there a minimum price I'll accept to go through the hassle of parcelling stuff up and sending it off.

There are some pyjamas (the Nibs) brand new never been worn as too big, need a good iron! On for 20 offered 15 and been declined, if something is brand new and too big why not return for a refund

ClockHolly · 09/06/2024 12:52

Maybe they feel you’re being a PITA over 40p?

But if you don’t want to engage with them, blocking is absolutely fine.

RubySloth · 09/06/2024 12:57

I rarely haggle but favourite items in hope of a discount. I think blocking over 40p is a bit tight, though I can understand that it's annoying counter offering a counter offer.

LePetitMarseillias · 09/06/2024 18:45

If your stuff is too expensive people will haggle.

If you're asking the same amount as the item is on sale for brand new on the shop's own website then people are going to haggle.

It's kind of the point of the site.
Just ignore them if you want.

Not really worth getting so wound up about 🤷🏻‍♀️
