Hi all

I currently sell on vinted and do well I think, but I've got some bedding that can't be sold on vinted so I'm thinking about eBay.

Is it a similar idea to vinted except people bid?

What postal options can you use?

Is it all fairly straightforward?

Thanks

If you list an item for auction, then yes, people bid. You can set reserve prices and a minimum starting price.

Or you could list it as a 'Buy Now' price so they can buy at that price.

Another option is allowing offers, so people can offer less than you price it at. You have the option of automatically accepting any offer over X or accepting/declining manually.

Work out postage and decide if you're going to charge the postage or include free postage.

If you're new then eBay will likely hold your funds until the buyer has had time to make a complaint etc to ensure you're not a scammer.

PP has covered most of it.

You get to choose the parcel company/shipping method and set the cost. You can also offer free local Collection. Selling secondhand clothes has just become fee free but other items the fee is on a percentage of the total cost ie. including postage.

You can also make offers to interested buyers, even if you don't set it to allow best offers. Eg. you can see "3 watchers" and it will send to them. They have 2 days to accept unless someone else gets there first.

Once offers are accepted by you they are committed to buy, unlike Vinted.

When you list your item at auction you have the option to let customers send you an offer. If you do, then use the listing tool to set a minimum amount, otherwise you'll get people offering a penny.

Postal options include Evri and Yodel. There are some good deals on postage with Royal Mail that you won't get at the post office counter. 48 hour tracked;
Small parcel up to 2kg £3.29
Medium parcel £4.79

If the item is lost or damaged in the post you have to refund the buyer, so its best to use tracked. At least you'll get a refund from the carrier. Its easiest to get a refund from Royal Mail, and you can claim online.
If you charge an additional fee for post instead of including it in the price then Ebay will charge you a final value fee on that.
