I'm getting all jittery, because I found a pair of lovely boots and I'd already bought another pair they were selling, so i emailed and asked if she would accept an offer in between the starting bid and the buy it now.

She eventually got back to me saying yes, that was fine.

I replied straight away, saying Ooh thankyou so much and what will we do, I'd suggect changing the bid price and then ending early when I have bid.

Well I waited all yesterday afternoon, finally went to bed, and still no reply. I guess she is busy but someone else might buy the boots and there's nothing I can do!

If I put in a bid, I suppose she could alter the postage to include the extra. If I buy it now, she might say ha ha, you are obliged to pay full price.
I am resigning myself to a day in front of the computer drumming my fingers.

the best thing she can do is either change the BIN price or add 'accept offers' - tho not sure if this is possible with auction format.

I'd message again saying something along the lines of - I've just realised you may not be able to add a 'accept offer' feature to your listing. If we were to go down any other route eg bid- end item - alter invoice, this may affect your fees and our trading protection. Do you think it make be the simplest thing if you change the BIN and let me know once you have done it so that I can buy and thus pay immediately?

Flight if you bid on it, she can end the listing early and then has the option to add other charges (i think that's what it's called). I have done it a fair few times.

I would put the starting bid on, and then email her to let her know. hth

as six monkeys has pointed out though, I'm not sure how it affects the trading protection. I've never had any problem, as usually find that if people make an offer they genuinely want to buy, but obviously this is from a sellers pov.

Can't do best offer on auction format.

Thanks

I already emailed her about 3 times since she last emailed me. So I had better not do it again or she might get shirty

I suggested all those things, asked her to let me know which she wanted to do, and I'd pay immediately.

I guess she probably has family round or something.
